Sea of Stars

All Artifacts Locations in Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

You will meet a curious person, named Teaks, relatively early during your journey in Sea of Stars. She calls herself a Traveling Historian and can interact with certain items, often relating a story about them, thanks to her Lore Grimoire book. Basically, you will find certain items, called Artifacts, on your journey and show them to Teaks whenever you set up camp. This will trigger her to have a story available for you to listen to. Listen to all of the stories to unlock the Well Read (To) trophy/achievement. This page will focus on listing the locations of every single Artifact in the game.

Where to Find the Ancient Molekin Cloak

The Ancient Molekin Cloak is inside this one house in Stonemasons Outpost.

The first Artifact you will actually find is the Ancient Molekin Cloak. It will be located in the Stonemasons Outpost and is pretty easy to find, as you can get it on your first visit there. Locate the ground that is cracked towards the northwestern corner of the town, then look just east of it for a doorway you can enter. Go inside and there will be a chest right there, which contains the Ancient Molekin Cloak.

Where to Find Romaya’s Hair Pin

It’s hard to miss Romaya’s Hair Pin, as it’s literally in plain view once you enter the Necromancer’s Lair.

Once you make it to Wraith Island, one of the places you will visit there is the Flooded Graveyard. The sole purpose of this location is to make it to the Necromancer’s Lair to find a Soul Stone. You’ll know you’re at the entrance to the Necromancer’s Lair, as you will do battle with Duke Aventry. After besting him in combat, head inside and in the very first room will be a chest, behind the pillar in the “water.” Open the chest for the Romaya’s Hair Pin.

Where to Find the Celestial Willow Leaf

Look behind the tree for a hidden chest when you can return to Mooncradle.

The Celestial Willow Leaf is probably an easy to find Artifact, since you know the tree is located in Mooncradle, the town you started in at the beginning of the game. However, you won’t be able to get it until much later in a game. Once you found the town of Mirth, on Settlers Island, you will be able to return to Evermist Island. To do this, head to Sleeper Island and make your way back to X’Tol’s Landing. Go to the golem at the top and have him launch you back to Evermist. From there, you can simply use the geyser on the world map to skip the Mountain Trail and easily reach Mooncradle. Back in Mooncradle, head to the eastern side of the town, to the tree, and look for the chest that is hidden by the branches of the tree. Open it for the Celestial Willow Leaf.

Where to Find the Stone Tablet Piece

(1 of 2) You will be able to go behind this large waterfall in Jungle Path to find a secret cave.

You will be able to go behind this large waterfall in Jungle Path to find a secret cave. (left), Inspect the mural to get the Stone Tablet artifact. (right)

This is one of the few Artifacts that you won’t find as an item in a chest. Once you make it to the Jungle Path on Watcher Island, you will come across a large waterfall. You should see a thin ledge there, allowing you to get behind the waterfall, so head there to find a secret cave. Grapple across the gap and inspect the mural on the other side for the Stone Tablet Piece.

Where to Find the Old Coral Vase

(1 of 4) Once you’re at Docarri Village, enter the item shop.

The Old Coral Vase is found in Docarri Village, the underwater town you visit on Watcher Island. Once you’re there, head to the item shop and climb the wall in the one corner. This gives you access to the whirlpool there, sending you under the water. There will be another whirlpool to the west, but ignore that and look for the hidden path north of it to find a second whirlpool. Take this one back up top and you will emerge in a house. Inside that house is a chest with the Old Coral Vase.

Where to Find the Cog Prototype

You will be heading to the Clockwork Castle for this Artifact. Near the upper right corner of the outside area, you will see a ledge to climb, but on the southern side, there is a wall to go down there. Climb down the wall, then the next one, and follow the path to the end for a chest. That chest will contain the Cog Prototype.

(1 of 2) The Cog artifact is on the right side of the outside area of Clockwork Castle.

Where to Find the Cloudy Shard

The Cloud Kingdom is your next destination for this Artifact. Upon making your way there, just pass through the town until you reach the eastern side. This is where you’ll find Puntie, a NPC who will literally send you travelling to any of the golems on the world map. Just south of him will be a chest, so open it up for the Cloudy Shard.

Where to Find the Broken Handle

(1 of 2) After defeating the boss, you will go to Es’tristae’s Lookout.

After defeating the boss, you will go to Es’tristae’s Lookout. (left), Look to the left just as soon as you enter to find the artifact. (right)

At some point in the main story, you will go to another world. Here, you will eventually make your way up the Sacrosanct Spires, where you do battle against the Triumvirate. After defeating them, take the teleporter at the bottom of the stairs and you will reach the Es’tristae’s Lookout. Enter it and immediately to your left is the chest with the Broken Handle.

Where to Find the Aventry Crest

The last two Artifacts are tied to endgame side quests, which require you to have access to the final story dungeon. For this particular Artifact, you will need to do the Romaya’s Secret Passage side quest. At the very end, after defeating the boss, you will receive Duke Aventry’s Key while in Flooded Graveyard. Jump into the water by his location and swim to the west, where you’ll find the crypt he mentioned. Enter it and use the key on the coffin to get some nice armor, as well as the Aventry Crest.

(1 of 3) Report back to Duke Aventry, after finishing the boss.

Where to Find Joce’s Belt Buckle

As mentioned above, this one is tied to an endgame side quest, specifically The Queen That Was. Once you have access to the final story dungeon, you will be able to trigger the side quest. Set up camp at any campfire in the game, then speak to Serai at the camp. She will mention The Queen That Was and actually give you Joce’s Belt Buckle there. If you wish to do the side quest on your own, then you want to have Teaks tell you the story. Note that if you go to the area with the Gun Goddess without doing this, and go on the True Ending path, then it’s possible the game will glitch and you won’t be able to get this Artifact.
