Boss Analysis

You’ll see a basic physical, its main danger, that can deal damage and induce Silence, Darkness, and Sleep, each for three turns. Its basical physical attack can also induce instant KO, so you will need a Ribbon or Deathproof on your armor. It can also use Venomous Stab or Bewitching Stab for damage and Poison or Confusion, respectively. This enemy can also use Curaga on itself.

Boss Strategy

Some weaker characters might have a tough time hitting Hornet, as it has high Agility and Luck. You will need either Ribbon or Deathproof on your armor to counter the instant-KO on the boss’ normal attack, although the Ribbon might be more useful because of the other ailments it can inflict. Increasing your accuracy (such as Aim) or lowering Hornet’s luck (Jinx) will also help. To get around its use of Curaga, you can simply cast Reflect on the creature, although you may want to be careful if you’re using magic yourself. You could also Silence it, but it has a pretty good resistance to this, unless you use a Silence Grenade. The same goes with Armor Break, but you can use Auron’s Banishing Blade Overdrive to inflict it 100% of the time, as well as a Frag Grenade.

Curaga doesn’t do much and if you are protected from status ailments, you will have no trouble dealing with Hornet.
