Item Drops¶

The Dark Flan is a fiend that can be found in the Mount Gagazet Cave, as well as in the first portion of Zanarkand. Unlike the other Flans up to this point in the game, it is not weak to any elements; in fact, it halves the four main elements. Also, it is high resistant to physical attacks, so you will need to worry about how to deal with this creature. The easiest thing to do is to use Armor Break on it, leaving it vulnerable to normal attacks. Mental Break is also an option, if you go with the magic route.

The Dark Flan has access to a few spells, like Bio, Demi, Drain, Flare and Osmose. Once its HP falls down low enough, it will automatically use White Wind, even if it isn’t its turn. Because it has access to White Wind, you can also learn it with Kimahri, if you didn’t before. Note that it doesn’t matter if it’s used or not.
