The Chimera is probably both the best and worst enemy in the Macalania Woods, as it is strong, but the AP reward for defeating/Overkilling one is worth the effort of fighting it. The battle with a Chimera will always start out with a random attack, then it will follow a set pattern. It can use Thundara, which is something you have seen likely hundreds of times by now. Aqua Breath is a water-based skill that hits the entire party, while Megiddo Flame is a fire-based skill that hits a single character. Should you use Provoke on it, it will only use Thundara, so you can probably make the fight a lot easier by using Provoke in combination with Silence.
You will find a stronger version of this fiend in Home. It will have better stats than the previous version, plus it will retaliate with Thundaga if Provoked. Other than that, it has the same skills/moves.
