God of War: Ragnarok

What Lies Below

By
Jarrod Garripoli

This guide will detail how to start and complete the What Lies Below Favor in The Jungle of Vanaheim in God of War Ragnarok.

Where to Start the What Lies Below Favor in God of War Ragnarok

The Favor will start after you witness the Dreki snatch some unsuspecting enemy

You will automatically begin this Favor as you’re doing the Return of the River one in The Jungle of Vanaheim. As you reach the dam in The Jungle and start Return of the River, you will need to blow a hole in the wall of the dam using your Draupnir Spear. This will create a hole big enough to squeeze through, to the other side. On the other side, you will witness a Dreki jump out of the water and snatch some other creature, before hopping back in, officially starting this Favor.

How to Complete the What Lies Below Favor

(1 of 2) Go here to throw the Spear into the wall

Go here to throw the Spear into the wall (left), which will allow you to jump across and reach the Dreki lair (right)

After witnessing the Dreki snatch its prey, you won’t be able to continue the Favor until you open up the dam. So, check out the Return of the River page for more info on that, which will lower the water on that side of the dam. Once the water has been lowered, you will be able to head to the ledge by the spirit offering another Favor and toss a spear into the wall with the wind vent. This spear will give you a jumping point to get across to the other side, where you will find a small arena with some bones. Venture into the arena and not only will a Dreki appear, but you will be fighting two at the same time.

How to Defeat the Double Dreki in The Jungle

As mentioned, you are facing two Dreki here and the arena isn’t all too large. Both are electrified, so you want to be careful about their spit attack and the shockwave around their bodies. It’s highly likely that one Dreki will stay on the platform, while the other jumps into the water and tries to pelt you with projectiles. These shots seem a bit different than the usual ones, though, as when they hit the ground, they will carry forward or even split sometimes. Likewise, the same Dreki, whenever it gets back on land, will do a constant short stream from its mouth, instead of the usual projectile.

(1 of 6) You will be facing two Dreki at the same time…again.

Other than those differences, though, the rest of the fight is pretty identical. Due to the size of the arena, you will likely see a lot of melee attacks from the first Dreki on the platform. You just want to be careful about the one biting attack, since it’s a guard-breaking one. There is also the tail sweep, but you can easily block that one. Concentrate on a single Dreki and it will eventually go down, which makes things a lot easier. If the lone Dreki goes back into the water, use ranged attacks on it until it comes back out of it.

Once both Dreki creatures are killed, loot the goodies and that’ll be the end of that Favor.
