How to Find the Temple of Light¶

During the main quest Groa’s Secret you’ll travel to Alfheim, passing through The Strond before entering the Temple of Light. This page will guide you to obtaining all collectibles including, but not limited to Nornir Chests, Odin’s Ravens, Legendary Chests, and Artefacts plus much more. A lot of the collectibles won’t be available to you until you’ve progressed further into the story, and unlocked more abilities. This guide will mention if that’s the case with as little spoilers as possible. None of the Collectibles in God of War: Ragnarök are missable as you can come back later in the post-game.

Where to Find all Lore (Poems) in Temple of Light¶

At first, you won’t find any collectibles for a short while when you enter the Temple of Light, then you’ll get three all at once!

There are two lores to be found in this area, and the first one can be found by progressing through the linear paths until you have to make three grapples. These will be two grapples, one for each panel, and one to reach the bridge. Once you’re on the bridge, head south, and follow the spiral staircase up. As you reach the top of the first set of stairs, hang a left (before the arched doorway) and drop to the path below. Follow the path left (south), and you’ll find the lore sitting in front of the wall and twisted branches.

The second lore can be found near the end, in the room with the second Raven (read below). Exit the room via the northern door into the statue puzzle room. Complete the puzzle, and progress through the door at the end which will lead outside briefly. Head southeast, up the two ledges, and through the hallway on your right to the next room.

In this room, you’ll see some stairs leading up, to the right of the stairs is a statue. On the statue, you can shoot a sonic arrow at the weapon (spear?) it’s holding to reveal a grapple point. Grapple across on to the circular platform, and turn your camera to the northwest. The lore will be in the form of glowing blue writing, and you’ll find it on the statue’s palm.

Where to Find all Legendary Chests in Temple of Light¶

There are three Legendary Chests in the Temple of Light which is a change from the norm. From the first lore scroll above, turn 180°, and walk northwest a little until you can drop to the ledge to your northeast. Follow the path to where you’ll find the first Legendary Chest sitting at the back next to the bright lights.

The second Legendary Chest can be found a bit later on. From the first Artefact (read below), head back into the room with the blinding pillar of light in the center of the room. Head northeast, and go through the door at the end. Continue up the next set of stairs until you reach a small bridge, and a large archway. Drop off the bridge to your left, and go through the door to your west. In this room, you’ll have a chain that’ll raise a Twilight Stone panel, and a chain-linked fence covering the light crystal that needs to be destroyed.

Raise the panel all the way to the top, and throw your axe at the panel to make it reflect on to the light crystal. Make sure that the axe is stuck behind the fence before you drop the chains, then recall the axe to destroy the crystal. This will make the chest drop for you to open. Lean over the western ledge, and drop to reach the chest.

Finally, the third, and final Legendary Chest can be found in the next room from the previous chest. When you enter the room, turn the camera to your left. At the back, you’ll see the chest. To get to it, you’ll need to do some grappling. Walk further forward, and grapple on the ledge to your left. Grapple to the panel on your left, and you’ll have two options, one panel to your left or the archway to your right.

The latter is the way forward for the mission while the former is towards the chest. Take the left panel, and keep following the panels until you reach another platform. Turn your camera west, and connect your blades to the Twilight panel in front of you. Yank it to the right, and quickly throw your axe at it to hit the light crystal underneath the archway in front of you to open up the gate. Finally, grapple on the panel to the south, and from there, grapple into the now open archway to open the chest. Note: You can open the door to the left of the chest (when facing it) to continue on with the story.

Where to Find all Ravens in Temple of Light¶

Two Ravens here in the Temple of Light. The first one will be in the same area as the first Legendary Chest. Once you’ve looted the Legendary Chest, head back the way you came, grapple up, and take the northwestern path until you see a chain-linked fence. The raven will be behind the fence, but you can only hit it by using the combination of the Twilight stones. Stand back from the pillar a bit, and aim your axe in the middle right of the Twilight Stone. If done correctly, you’ll see a light-blue line linking to the second stone.

The second raven can be found near the end of the area. From the Nornir Chest (read below), go up the stairs next to it. Follow them into the next area with the large pillar of light, and take the small stairs up to the left. The raven will be sitting on an enclosed platform at the back behind one of the Twilight panels. Aim, and throw your axe at it to get the last Raven.

There are two Artefacts in the Temple of Light. The first one can be found at the top of the spiral staircase. From the Raven, grapple up to reach the staircase, and follow it west, then north all the way to the top. As you go through the doorway, look to your right to see a broken piece of wall. Go past the gap in the wall into the shallow water, and look up to use your grapple to the ledge above. Go left, and the Artefact will be sitting by the balcony to your left.

The second Artefact can be found in the same general area as the second Legendary Chest (read above). It can be found in the room with the door wheel, and the chain for the Legendary Chest. You can find it in the alcove room on the left from the main door.

Where to Find all Nornir Chests in Temple of Light¶

Carrying on from the last Legendary Chest (panel room, read above), climb up the wall obscured by leaves, and you’ll be in a room with four Twilight panels, and a bridge of light. Go across the light bridge, and the chest will be at the bottom of the stairs on your right. This chest requires you to destroy all three runes in quick succession, and it doesn’t leave you much time before it resets. First things first, destroy the green metal on the runes by having Atreus fire his arrows at them. When all the runes are cleared of that, you can destroy the runes. The runes can be destroyed in any order provided it’s done within the time limit. You can find the runes in the following locations:

• Rune 1 (R) – This can be found hanging to the left of the chest.

• Rune 2 (C) – On a platform slightly higher to the left of Rune 1.

• Rune 3 (n) – The last Rune can be found in a small alcove to the right of the stairs to the right of the chest. If you look down the stairs, you’ll see a Twilight panel which needs to be used to hit the last rune. Make sure you clear the metal of this first as it can be hard to spot at first.

As mentioned above, you have a few seconds to hit all three runes, so time is of the essence. Start with rune 3 first as that will take the most time to hit as you need to line it up with the Twilight panel. Aim your axe until the blue line appears, and throw it to hit rune 3. Adjust your aim to hit rune 1 to your left. Now quickly head towards the steps to hit rune 2. If done quick enough, the chest will be unlocked.
