Select “Check in with Machina” to start this mission.

S-Rank Requirements

Time Limit Phantoma Casualties
15:00 20 0

For this mission, you will be solo with Machina, who is in l’Cie Mode. This mode basically ups all of his stats, meaning he will deal more damage with his attacks, as well as take less. He will also have permanent Haste and other handy buffs.

1 - Drake Avenue (1)

Objective Time Limit Effect Reward
Eliminate all Dominion soldiers 3:00 Aura 0:30 Red Beret

The mission will begin with you fighting some Dominion Legionaries. These enemies will pretty much do nothing but try to fire off magic at you (any of the three elements). This magic will travel in a straight line, so it should be fairly easy to dodge. They will sometimes roll around to avoid your attacks, similar to Supersoldiers.

2 - Drake Avenue (2)

More Legionaries will be here, as well as Agito Cadets. The Cadets will do the same magic as the Legionaries, but they will dodge your attacks more often.

3 - District 2701

Objective Time Limit Effect Reward
Take down the Golem 3:00 Aura 0:30 Summon: Titan

As you can see from the above SO, you will be facing a Golem here and while it is still strong, you will be able to deal a lot more damage to it than usual. Watch out for its attacks and take it down first, before dealing with the Legionaries.

4 - District 2695

There will be a few Legionaries here, with two coming from the exit to the next area, as well as two more from where you came. There’s also a recovery portal in the area, should you need one.

5 - District 2551

Objective Time Limit Effect Reward
Defeat Adad 3:00 Protect 0:30 Twin Laevateinns

In addition to the normal Legionaries you have been fighting all along, you will see a Freak-type enemy (Akkad) here called Adad. They are the same as previously encountered, except you should be able to deal big damage to them using Machina here. You have two exits here, one going northwest (continues mission) and the other going northeast. Go with the latter for now.

6 - District 2689

Another Freak will be here, as well as more Legionaries. Remember that they are fighting each other, even though the latter can’t damage the former.

Your SOs here will be mandatory. You will be ordered to kill various enemies as you go.

7 - District 2655

Objective Time Limit Effect Reward
Harvest a Phantoma 1:00 Invisible 0:30 Interceptor

Despite the in-game description, you only have to harvest a single Phantoma to complete the SO here. You will be facing off against an unlimited number of Legionaries and Cadets here, so once you’ve had your fill, return to the previous fork in the road and go northwest this time.

8 - District 2677

Just a few Dominion Legionaries will be here, as well as a single Agito Cadet. Take them all out and move onwards.

9 - District 2547

The Freaks in this area will continually respawn, so unless you want to farm Phantoma, move onto the next area as soon as possible.

10 - District 2722

Go to the top area of this district and you will see a few Dominion Legionaries waiting for you. Defeat them and continue.

11 - Drake Avenue (3)

There are nothing but Dominion Legionaries here, which will keep spawning, so move onto the next area.

12 - District 2449

Objective Time Limit Effect Reward
Defeat the Golem without taking more than 2000 damage 5:00 Endure 1:00 Aegis Essentia

The only real enemy you have to worry about for damage is the Golem, as the spells from the other ones should do low damage. Two thousand damage isn’t that much, but seeing as the Golem is quite slow, it will be easy enough to dodge its attacks and take it down.

BOSS - Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh returns and it will be a one-on-one fight between him and Machina. Nothing has changed since the last time you fought him, so you should know all of his moves by now. The only problem is that Machina needs to be in close to him to hit with his attacks, and you still need to go after the Breaksights.

You should be well versed at killing Gilgamesh by now. Luckily Machina is more than a match for him. Having an HP regen ability helps.

There is a trick you can do to avoid making Gilgamesh do the dash attack, which he happens to do if you’re not close to him. Stick close to Gilgamesh and he will likely do the combo of horizontal spinning slashes, then an overhead or he will simply do the overhead slash.

After either of these, there will be a Breaksight and if you hit it, immediately stop attacking and wait for him to drop to his knees so you can get continual Breaksights. Cyclone Drive is a great move to use whenever you get the first Breaksight, but make sure you initiate the move as soon as you hit the Breaksight to get the most damage during the continual Breaksights. Defeat Gilgamesh to finish the mission.

In an act of unprovoked aggression, the Militesi Empire invaded the Dominion of Rubrum. Imperial dreadnoughts swarmed the skies, assailing the unsuspecting countryside under the banner of the White Tiger. From amidst the flames of the besieged dominion, the Vermilion Bird rose in defiance, her crystal granting magic and mighty eidolons that her disciples might cast out the technologically advanced aggressors. Thrust into the tumult of war, the fate of the world and its four crystals now rests on the shoulders of fourteen brave, young warriors.
