Eidolons

Eidolons are summons you can bring into battle by sacrificing your active leader. They are only on the battlefield for a certain amount of time and once the limit is over, they go away. You will get your first Eidolon during “The Capture of Togoreth Stronghold”.

The Eidolons in the game are split into different classes, with each one having multiple versions. Each version can level up, like normal characters, as well as earn AP upon leveling, which can be used to buy abilities. Most Eidolons can be controlled by the player, but they cannot harvest Phantoma, pick up items or dodge.

Summoning an Eidolon will require you to sacrifice your party leader, which counts as a casualty on the mission results screen.

You won’t be able to summon an Eidolon everywhere, as they require a certain amount of space, with some (Bahamut and Odin) needing a large, open area. Also, sometimes when your characters are KO’ed, an Eidolon will summon itself onto the battlefield and when its time is up, it will revive all of your characters that have been killed.
