After almost a decade, Capcom is finally delivering a long-awaited sequel to Dragon’s Dogma. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an expansive RPG that is set to enhance all the aspects players loved about the original and deliver a deeper and bigger RPG. Will you be able to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, given those consoles are ten years old at this point?
Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PS4 and Xbox One?¶
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will not be available on PS4 or Xbox One. The game is a current-gen exclusive and Capcom hasn’t detailed exactly why the game won’t be released on last-generation consoles. However, the RPG is incredibly ambitious and four times the size of the first game, which likely means that it simply wouldn’t be able to run on a last-generation console.
The first confirmation that the game wouldn’t be coming to PS4 or Xbox One was when the game was fully revealed and the website updated to list the platforms.
You’ll need to get your hands on a current-gen console if you want to play Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Additionally, there is very little chance that the game will ever make its way onto last-generation consoles. We are almost four years into the current console generation and seeing a ton of games only released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, including Street Fighter 6, which was only released on Xbox Series X|S, although it did also come to PS4.
There’s a lot going on in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so the power of the current-gen consoles are needed to have everything run smoothly.
