Dragon's Dogma 2

Prey for the Pack Walkthrough – Dragon's Dogma 2

By
Scott Peers

The "Prey for the Pack" iconPrey for the Pack side quest in "Dragon" iconDragon’s Dogma 2 can be started once you reach the "Checkpoint Rest Town" iconCheckpoint Rest Town, located far to the west of "Vernworth" iconVernworth, the capital city of Vermund. There you’ll find an old man by the name of Morris, fretting about his missing grandson. As Morris begins to ask whether you know anything, one of the townsfolk (Lutz) comes hurrying along to inform him that Rodge (the grandson) has been abducted by a pack of wolves! This must be a particularly cunning pack, but Morris immediately springs into action and wants to go searching. Still, he’s an old man, so the task falls to you. On this page, we’ll show you exactly where to find Rodge and how to bring him back to Morris safely.

Speak with Morris in the Checkpoint Rest Town to begin the Prey for the Pack quest.

How to Start Prey for the Pack – Morris’s Apothecary

As mentioned above, this quest can be acquired in the Checkpoint Rest Town, so you’ll need to reach that first. The easiest way to do this is by taking the oxcart on the western side of Vernworth ("West Vernworth Oxcart Station" iconWest Vernworth Oxcart Station) since it’ll go directly to the town. You may be attacked along the way, so be ready to defend the cart, especially from large beasts that can easily destroy it. Either way, you can continue along the main road westward even if the cart is destroyed, and you’ll eventually reach the Checkpoint Rest Town. Once there, you need to go to "Morris's Apothecary" iconMorris’s Apothecary, located near the center of town, and a cutscene will play as you approach the shop.

Speak With the Townsfolk – Timothy and Alsa

The first thing you’ll need to do after acquiring the quest from Morris is speak with some of the townsfolk in the Checkpoint Rest Town. It’s not the largest settlement, so it won’t take long. You can start by speaking with Lutz, the one who told Morris that Rodge had been abducted by wolves, who will inform you that someone in town witnessed the abduction. He doesn’t tell you who, though, so you need to go searching. To make things quick, the two NPCs that you need to speak with for more information are Alsa, located by the water-well in the market square, and Timothy, also found in the market square.

Follow the Glowing Flowers to the Putrid Cave

Timothy will tell you that he saw Rodge being abducted by the wolves near the cenotaph, located east of Checkpoint Rest Town. Alsa will tell you that there are flowers which glow during the night, scattered along the road to the east, and this is the main clue that you should take note of. Although it’s not explicitly stated, you need to follow these flowers to the "Putrid Cave" iconPutrid Cave, and the best time to do that is at night, while they’re glowing. Still, if you don’t want to wait that long, you can actually go straight to the Putrid Cave, located east of Checkpoint Rest Town, where you’ll find Rodge and the pack of wolves. You can see the exact location of the Putrid Cave in the screenshot below.

(1 of 3) The location of the Putrid Cave, where Rodge can be found, east of Checkpoint Rest Town.

Once you reach the Putrid Cave, you need to go inside to find Rodge beset by the wolves. You should kill them quickly before they harm Rodge, then speak with him and escort him back to Checkpoint Rest Town. You’ll need to keep him safe along the road back, so it’s easier to do this during the day if you can. When you arrive back at Morris’s Apothecary, you can speak with him to let him know that you’ve rescued his grandson.

With Rodge safely returned to his grandfather, a few lines of dialogue will ensue, and you’ll be rewarded with 4,000 XP, 11,000 gold, and x2 "Miracle Roborant" iconMiracle Roborant for your trouble.
