Dragon's Dogma 2

Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge Walkthrough

By
Scott Peers

The "Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge" iconSteeled Resolve, Blazing Forge quest in "Dragon" iconDragon’s Dogma 2 begins immediately after the "Dulled Steel, Cold Forge" iconDulled Steel, Cold Forge quest, so long as you entrusted the Regalia Sword to Sara. You’ll need to wait for at least two days to pass in-game before you can progress the quest any further, while you wait for Sara to work on the sword. At this point you can return to her at "Brokkr's Smithy" iconBrokkr’s Smithy in "Bakbattahl" iconBakbattahl, but you’ll soon discover that she hasn’t made much progress. You’ll need to wait another two in-game days, then return to the smithy to find that Sara has gone missing, and Brokkr will ask you to go looking for her in a cave at the base of the mountain on Volcanic Island. It’s from here that the quest properly starts, and on this page we’ll show you exactly where to find Sara at the "Mountain Base Cave" iconMountain Base Cave, and how to reach the cave entrance with Sara holding the blazehammer before the time runs out.

Sara needs your help with the blazehammer to reforge the Regalia Sword in Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge.

Location of Mountain Base Cave – Volcanic Island

As mentioned above, you’ll first need to speak with Sara and Brokkr while passing a total of four in-game days before you can properly begin the quest. The easiest way to do this is to rest at one of the inns in Bakbattahl, so it shouldn’t take you too long to get through the initial dialogue at Brokkr’s Smithy. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to travel to the Mountain Base Cave in the Agamen Volcanic Island region, and if you haven’t been there before, you’ll need to go through a brief cutscene and a longer fight with the Guardian Gigantus as part of the main story first.

If you’ve already entered the Agamen Volcanic Island region once before, all you need to do is go through the main gate from Bakbattahl and follow the road eastward, continuing southward toward the "Volcanic Island Camp" iconVolcanic Island Camp, and then southwest from there, where you’ll eventually find the Mountain Base Cave as shown on our map here. Alternatively, you can see the image below for a quick glance at its location. It should also be noted that you can take the path through "Drabnir's Grotto" iconDrabnir’s Grotto, from the southernmost point of Bakbattahl, where you’ll find a much simpler route as you keep to the southernmost road into the Volcanic Island.

Finding Sara in the Mountain Base Cave

As you finally reach the Mountain Base Cave in the Agamen Volcanic Island region, you can start by killing all the enemies that can be found both inside and out. The route through the cave to the part where you’ll find Sara is fairly linear, but we recommend killing all the enemies before you speak with her to make things easier later on. You’ll find a bunch of tough "Rattler" iconRattler enemies in the cave, but also some fire-based "Sludge" iconSludge enemies which are capable of inflicting highly damaging fire DoTs (damage-over-time) if you get caught by them.

After you’ve killed all the enemies both inside and outside the cave, you can take the path to the chamber where Sara can be found, in the southeast part of the cave, where you’ll find her heating up the blazehammer. Note that from this point on, you’ll have a limited amount of time to get Sara out of the cave with the blazehammer, where she can use it to reforge the Regalia Sword.

Getting Sara to the Cave Entrance

The easiest way to get out of the Mountain Base Cave with Sara is to turn right from where you first find her, then continue north until you reach an open area with the sky above. This forms the largest chamber of the cave, and from here you’ll need to turn southwest, then south as the path bends northward to the cave entrance. You don’t need to worry about Sara keeping up; she’ll find her own way so long as you get there first, so you can just wait at the entrance for her to arrive. You need to be quick as you make your way out of the cave since you’ll have roughly two minutes before the blazehammer cools, at which point you’ll need to start again.

If you’re still finding it tricky to reach the cave entrance with Sara in time, you can see the video below for a quick guide through the route.

Return to Brokkr’s Smithy, then to Roman in Vernworth

Once you’ve successfully brought Sara to the entrance of the Mountain Base Cave in time, all you need to do is return to Brokkr’s Smithy in Bakbattahl, where you’ll get a brief scene with Brokkr and Sara as they inform you that the Regalia Sword has been repaired. You can now return with the sword to Roman in "Vernworth" iconVernworth, where you’ll find him in the Fountain Garden of "Vernworth Castle" iconVernworth Castle grounds. He’ll thank you for returning the sword, and you’ll earn +6000 XP and 35,000 Gold for completing the quest.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the long-awaited sequel to a predecessor that gained a cult following for its quirky pawns and charming jank, not to mention the diverse combat options that came with access to several unique vocations. All of that and more is expanded upon with DD2, while some of the mechanics have been simplified to make them more accessible, but still retaining that unapologetic focus on rewarding exploration at the heart of its gameplay. You are the Arisen, fated to confront the Dragon’s Dogma, and the initial path you take is a familiar one to those who played the original, but you’ll soon find that there’s more to this story than meets the eye. In this guide, we cover the following:
