Dragon's Dogma 2

Hunt for the Jadeite Orb Walkthrough – Dragon's Dogma 2

By
Scott Peers

The Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be acquired as soon as you reach the Checkpoint Rest Town, located far to the west of Vernworth, the capital city of Vermund. During your first visit, you’ll meet a Beastren named Offulve near the entrance. Speaking with him will begin the quest, but you’ll soon meet another NPC in town named Everard, the merchant that Offulve works for. In the process, you’ll discover that you need to make a choice between giving the Jadeite Orb to Everard or Offulve, but there’s a workaround to achieve the best reward by forging the item at the nearby Ibrahim’s Scrap Store, which also happens to be the place where you’ll find the genuine article. On this page, we’ll show you how to do this and gain the best reward outcome.

Speak with Offulve in Checkpoint Rest Town to begin the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest.

Where to Find the Checkpoint Rest Town

As mentioned in the introduction, the Checkpoint Rest Town can be found far to the west of Vernworth, and you can get there by exploring on foot if you wish. If you’d rather get there sooner, all you need to do is speak with the coach driver at the West Vernworth Oxcart Station, shown in the screenshot below, and you’ll be able to fast-travel there immediately. Keep in mind that along the way, you may be attacked by all manner of creatures, so you’ll need to defend the oxcart and hope that it doesn’t get destroyed by a large beast such as an ogre.

Speak with Offulve

Regardless of how you get to the Checkpoint Rest Town, once you’re there, it’ll be difficult to miss Offulve by the entrance. He’ll most likely approach you first, but if for any reason he doesn’t, you’re looking for a Beastren with a merchant-like pack on his back. Just speak with him to start the conversation and begin the quest.

Speak with Everard

As you’ll soon discover, Offulve has lost the Jadeite Orb, and he’s working for another merchant named Everard who apparently has a reputation for being a bit of a taskmaster, and a potentially murderous one at that. You’ll soon find Everard elsewhere in town, more specifically on the path just between Celeste’s Smithy and the Vocation Guild, as shown in the screenshot below. Everard will tell you that he doesn’t know where to find Offulve (despite the fact that he’s just down the road…), but he cares more about what has happened to the Jadeite Orb. He asks you to find it for him and states that you’ll be handsomely rewarded for it.

Go to Ibraham’s Scrap Store

So, you’ve spoken to both Offulve and Everard, but you don’t know where to find a Jadeite Orb. It’s easy to go searching throughout the wilderness for one of these elusive orbs, but in truth, the easiest way to get one is by speaking with Ibraham at the nearby Ibraham’s Scrap Store, located just down the hill to the left of where you find Everard. He sells all sorts of rare items and has somehow got his hands on the Jadeite Orb… which he’s now selling for 7,500 gold. That aside, you’ll need to buy the Jadeite Orb from him and then ask him to make a forgery of it for 500 gold. In this way, you can give a Jadeite Orb to both Everard and Offulve, but one of them will be a forgery. You’ll need to wait a couple of days before the forgery is ready, so you can either rest at one of the nearby inns in the town or do so more naturally at campfires as you’re exploring.

Should You Give the Real Jadeite Orb to Everard or Offulve?

After giving Ibraham enough time to make a forgery of the Jadeite Orb, you can return to him and receive both the genuine article and the forgery. You now need to decide who you’re going to give the real version to, and who you’ll give the forgery to between Everard and Offulve. There’s a clear best outcome in terms of the amount of gold gained here, and that’s by giving the real Jadeite Orb to Everard. If you do that, you’ll earn 12,000 gold from him as a reward, alongside the Ring of Skullduggery, which increases damage output when attacking from behind. At the same time, you can then give the forgery to Offulve, and he’ll reward you with 3000 gold and an Elite Camping Kit, since he believes it’s the real thing and he doesn’t get it checked for its authenticity.

So, giving the genuine article to Everard and the forgery to Offulve is the best outcome in terms of reward, netting you a total of 15,000 gold, but what happens if you give the forgery to Everard instead? Well, Everard is a more discerning merchant than Offulve, and he has an arrangement with Ibraham that ensures that he will inspect the Jadeite Orb to make sure that it’s authentic. Ironic, isn’t it? It’s almost as if they’re working together…

In any case, if Ibraham informs Everard that the Jadeite Orb is a fake, you won’t get any reward from Everard and you’ll be left to wonder whether he’ll have Offulve killed, as was mentioned about those who cross him at the beginning of the quest. On the other hand, you can convince Ibraham to state that the jadeite Orb is the genuine article, but it’ll cost you a total of 12,000 gold to persuade him, so it’s definitely the worst outcome if you’re thinking purely in terms of gold.

(1 of 2) We recommend giving Everard the genuine article for the best rewards.

And with that, we’ve told you everything we know about the different outcomes of the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest. We’ve yet to discover what happens if you meet Offulve or Everard later in the story but rest assured that we’ll be updating this page with anything else we learn.
