Dragon's Dogma 2

Nesting Troubles Walkthrough - Dragon's Dogma 2

By
Scott Peers

The Nesting Troubles side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be acquired from a man named Lennart, who you’ll first meet in the village of Melve. This is the same village that was partly destroyed by the dragon, and where the Arisen (your character) fought back not long ago. Lennart can be found in the northeast part of the village, by the central water-well, but you’ll only find him here after speaking with him for the first time at the nearby inn. On this page, we’ll show you where to find the explosive casks to throw into the Saurian nest and the best way to poison the nest afterwards.

Speak with Rennart in Melve to begin the Nesting Troubles side quest.

Where to Find the Saurian Nest

After starting the quest by speaking with Lennart, you’ll be tasked with throwing some explosive casks into the nearby Saurian nest. However, the location of the nest isn’t marked on your map, and it’s easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention during the cutscene. So, if you’re not sure where to go, just head northwest out of the village of Melve, to the main entrance with the wooden bridge opposite, and turn left before you cross the bridge. There’s a sheer drop below here, and you should be able to see the Saurian nest on the other side of the river.

Explosive Casks Location

Once you’ve located the Saurian nest, you’ll need to find the explosive casks that you can use to throw into the nest, thereby destroying it and hopefully killing the two Saurians present in the process. As you’re standing at the cliff edge overlooking the river and the Saurian nest, you should easily spot the explosive casks just to your left, or behind you, depending on the exact point where you’re stood. Either way, they’re easy enough to recognize and you can pick them up one at a time, then throw them into the nest.

As you make the first throw of an explosive cask, you’ll remain undetected by the Saurians, so you’ll have time to properly aim and get to grips with the mechanics if you haven’t thrown anything before. Note that the exact point where the cask will land can be deceptive based on the aim arc that appears, so it’s a good idea to slightly overshoot the throw to ensure that it hits the target. Don’t overdo it, though! You’ll have enough casks for a few attempts, so there’s no need to worry if you botch the first couple of throws.

Kill the Saurians

The explosive casks are unlikely to kill both Saurians at once, so you’ll need to either throw more casks at the remaining Saurian or use ranged attacks to finish it off. The Saurian is capable of ranged attacks itself and can inflict the Drenched status if you fail to avoid its spit attack, so be cautious of this. After finishing them off, you need to return to Rennart and report what you’ve done. You’ll find him in the same place in Melve, just by the central water-well.

(1 of 2) Look for the explosive casks just to the left of the main entrance as you leave Melve.

How to Throw a Jar of Poison into the Saurian Nest

With both Saurians dead, the only thing that remains is to ensure that others don’t attempt to establish a nest in the same area. To do this, Rennart suggests throwing a jar of poison into the nest, but you’ll need to be careful that you don’t accidentally throw it into the river instead. If you do, you’ll poison the drinking water for the locals, so it’s important that you get this right!

Where to Find the Jar of Poison

The jar of poison that you’re looking for is easy enough to find - just go outside the main entrance to see a large jar with a purple substance dripping from it. All you need to do is pick it up and throw it into the nest, but if you want to be absolutely certain that you hit the nest (and not the water!), the best thing to do is go over the bridge and approach the nest area from the other side of the river. Once there, it’ll be an easy throw into the nest below, and you’ll see the poison splatter throughout the nest as the objective updates.

(1 of 2) You can find the jar of poison just outside Melve, near the main entrance to the northwest.

All that remains from here is to return to Rennart at the water-well in Melve. He’ll thank you for getting the job done, and you’ll be rewarded with 1250 gold, 400 XP, and a Stoutness Extract.

You are the Arisen, fated to confront the Dragon’s Dogma, and the initial path you take is a familiar one to those who played the original, but you’ll soon find that there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
