Miguel is the pastor at the Church of the Light. He is in Sandrock from the start of the game and is pretty easy to give gifts to. In addition, Miguel has an extensive social network, making it even easier to get his Friendship Points up. The guide below goes over where to find Miguel, how to romance him, how to marry him, and what gifts he likes and loves.
Where to Find Miguel¶
Miguel is rather easy to find and lives in Sandrock from the start of the game. He’s the pastor at the Church of the Light so you can usually find him inside the church, located at the top of Sandrock. He will walk down the stairs to the main plaza from time to time and come to the weekly sermons on the Blue Moon Saloon stage. He has a larger social network consisting of Pen, Dan-bi, Burgess, and Matilda. Getting close to these characters will help you increase your friendship with Miguel. In addition, you can also donate to the church daily to raise all church members’ Friendship Points. Here’s what each donation level will get you.
- 20 Gols: +2 Relationship Points with All Church Members.
- 200 Gols: +5 Relationship Points with All Church Members.
- 2000 Gols: +20 Relationship Points with All Church Members.
The donation box can help you to level the church members up quickly and is located inside the church where Miguel is usually found, making it easy to donate to.
How to Romance Miguel¶
Miguel is rather easy to romance from the start of the game. You will want to speak with him daily, give him gifts, complete commissions, play Critters with him, and go on Play Dates when they unlock. Like most romanceable characters, when you reach three hearts or 400 Friendship Points, you can ask Miguel out. This is done by purchasing a Heart Knot from the General Store and gifting it to Miguel for 120 Gols. There is a chance he may reject it, but he seems to take it with a lot less fuss than some other characters, especially those like Pen, who have romance missions.
Once you are dating Miguel, you can go on dates with him for even more Friendship Points. Sadly, it’s a little more complex to marry this character as this function is linked to the main story of the game. For more information on the friendship system, check out our guide here.
How to Marry Miguel¶
You won’t be able to get close to Miguel until you get around 50 hours into the game. This time doesn’t count in anything other than focusing on the main story. If you have completed the mission Fall from Grace, then keep reading below to learn how to marry Miguel in My Time at Sandrock.
Marrying Miguel is possible, unlike with Pen, but you are going to have to work at it. Once Miguel is revealed to the town as one of the antagonists, you will lose friendship points with him and the boyfriend status will be revoked if you were dating him. From this point on, he will be in jail, but as he is a citizen of the free cities, he won’t be taken away like Pen and Matilda. Over the course of the next few missions, you will need to help decide what happens with Miguel and if he can be redeemed. If you do release him from jail, then you can start working towards your relationship once again. Once he is your boyfriend again and reaches three hearts of 900 points, then you can propose to him. To do this, buy the Engagement Ring from the Mysterious Man on the 20th or 21st of the month. It costs 2,000 Gols.
Best Gifts to Give Miguel¶
Miguel has a small list of liked and loved gifts compared to other players. One thing to note is that Miguel likes natural items like seeds, herbs, and books. Miguel is a bit easier to gift to than some other characters, as he likes items that are easy to make, like the Yakmel Comb that will get you eight Friendship Points. His most loved item, the Concentrated Algae Apparatus, also gets unlocked early in the game during the Breakthrough New Goo main mission. This item will get you 20 points and is an easy love. This, mixed with the large social network, gives you the ability to raise the Friendship Points with Miguel quickly. He also has a few missions that you can do to help the Church of the Light to get closer to him.
Miguel Player Gifts¶
Miguel will send the players gifts as they get closer. The table below goes over what you will get in the mail and when Miguel will send it.
