Prowler Mode is essentially the game’s fifteenth weapon. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a Palico? Well, wonder no longer! Prowler Mode lets you play as a Palico of your choosing. Now, more than ever before, it matters what skills they have and what equipment they have. The skills system for Palicos has been greatly fleshed out in this installment of Monster Hunter, check out the previous sections in this guide for a thorough Palico rundown.
A Prowler Can… | A Prowler Can’t… |
---|---|
Beat up monsters just as well as a hunter! | Bring items and use them |
Gather even faster with infinite Bug Nets and Pickaxes! | Heal/cleanse with items, can only heal with special moves |
Forego Drinks due to hot and cold immunity | Use any of the fancy weapons hunters have aside from its own cutting/impact weapons and boomerangs |
Ignore Paintballs since they can always know where the monster is! | Use Hunting Styles or get lots of kinds of armor skills hunters enjoy |
Use special moves like launching Bombs, setting Traps, healing allies, or boosting allies attack! | Use the panic dive that helps hunters get out of a pinch |
Dig around in the ground to avoid aggro! | Reach many higher areas on a monster that may hunters can reach due to small size |
Take advantage of infinite stamina! |
As you can see, Prowlers have many advantages that they enjoy over hunters. This makes them top-notch gatherers and great hunters. Bring Prowlers alongside humans to support them and dish out damage, or bring a party of nothing but cats for a giant cat-fest! Note that Prowlers can also block attacks, but like the Sword and Shield they cannot block particularly heavy attacks.
Build up an arsenal of Palicos with great offensive skills and useful fortes and special moves to conquer monsters as a cat! Nothing feels more satisfying. Prowler Mode is also the way to do several Prowler-exclusive quests and event quests.
