Mizutsune is a Leviathan debuting in this game and is one of the four flagship monsters (the “elite four”). Considered by the developers as the “lady” of the elite four, Mizutune does well to live up to its name, dancing and creating bubbles that cause a new status, Bubbleblight . If hit by enough bubble attacks, you will lose complete control over your hunter and slip and slide. The only way to “cure” Bubbleblight is to be hit, whether it’s from friendly fire, your Palicos, or Mizutsune.

Mizutsune loves to dance and swing its massive and graceful bulk through the air, resulting a monster that never sits still and is impossible to stay in one position for long. Be prepared to have to run back and forth constantly as you keep up with Mizutsune’s entrancing dances.

Mizutsune is weakest to thunder and dragon.

Attack Explanation
Slithering Charge Mizutsune will half-slither, half-sprint towards you to bowl you over.
360 Tail Spin Unlike other leviathans, as Mizutsune spins it uses its head as the “center” of its spinning, and so its tail will swing out widely and smack the ground. It rarely spins in a perfect circle, often spiraling outward and covering a lot of ground
Claw Swipe Mizutsune will rarely swipe at you with its long, sharp claws.
Double Chomp Mizutsune will rapidly chomp twice in the air, moving forward by a larger amount compared to other Leviathans
Bubble Blower Mizutsune will swing its head from side to side, spitting three bubbles out at you each time. They go out at three different angles and will begin the process of afflicting you with Bubbleblight if you’re not careful.
Giant Bubble Mizutsune will sometimes spit out one gigantic bubble as it dances backwards.
Spiraling Twirl Mizutsune will leap into the air and spin gracefully (think butterfly kick kind of spin) and then land heavily on the ground. Both takeoff and landing deal hefty damage.
Bubble Spin Mizutsune will spin itself around, launching bubbles from its tail.
360 Whip Mizutsune will coil up similar to how other Leviathans do so, and then it will lash out both its head and tail.
Water Laser Mizutsune will spit out a thin, concentrated beam of water and sweep it all around in every angle it can possibly achieve. Be very careful, the safest place is behind Mizutsune as it can hit you from across the stage.
