Background

This is the final route on your way to the Pokemon League, although not the final route you may visit. Apparently it’s full of showoffs, so there’s no shame in showing off your mad Pokemon skills then.

Points of Interest

  • This route is home to the Badge Check Gates. Without all eight of Unova’s Gym badges, you ain’t getting past!

Guide

Head right; you can avoid most encounters here but it’s hardly recommended what with the Elite 4 looming round the corner.

Careful! Some of these “items” are actually Amoonguss in disguise…

Trainer Battle: Battle Girl

Pokemon Level Type
"Scrafty" IconScrafty 39 Dark/Fighting
"Mienfoo" IconMienfoo 39 Fighting

Trainer Battle: Ace Trainer

Trainer Battle: Veteran

Pokemon Level Type
"Maractus" IconMaractus 39 Grass
"Alomomola" IconAlomomola 39 Water
"Cryogonal" IconCryogonal 40 Ice

Run far enough, past the end of the wooden bridge, and Cheren will catch up for a final test of your strength.

Trainer Battle: Cheren

Not again… Thankfully this is your final test and if you come through this unscathed, you’re ready for the Elite Four.

Pokemon Level Type Note
"Unfezant" IconUnfezant 43 Normal/Flying -
"Liepard" IconLiepard 43 Dark -
"Simisear" IconSimisear 43 Water Only if you picked "Tepig" IconTepig

"Serperior" IconSerperior 45 Grass Only if you picked "Oshawott" IconOshawott

By this stage of the game your party should be well rounded enough to deal with Cheren, an Electric type for "Unfezant" IconUnfezant, a Fighting/Bug type for "Liepard" IconLiepard, and then the appropriate creatures for his Pan and starter. The only thing that might affect you is that he’s an absolute powerhouse at Level 43 to 45.

Once you’ve dealt with him, Cheren will heal you up. He’s a nice guy really, and Bianca will give you a Max Revive to be going on with. That’s what friends are for!

If you follow the narrow, grassy path north you can battle two trainers and grab some extra items. Either way, once you’re ready to proceed, head right from the bridge. Along this way are two trainers that can be avoided or fought. Once past them head north toward the League!

Trainer Battle: Black Belt

If you made it this far, you’ll have all 8 badges, so no need to worry.

Now it’s just a case of walking through the gates, enjoy the gorgeous growing music as you do so, it’s quite something. When you reach the ice part it’s just a case of sliding forward, right, up, left, and up.

Welcome to Victory Road.
