There are 300 optional missions in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion. The Pursue the Remnants sub-category (M4-1) can be found in the To End the War with Wutai Category.
Mission 4-1-6 is a difficulty spike when taking it on early in the game.
To End the War with Wutai: M4-1 Missions¶
Once you reach the start of Chapter 2, you’ll unlock a bunch of new Missions when you reach the next Save Point. The To End the War with Wutai category of Missions will also unlock at this point, alongside the Pursue the Remnants sub-category.
As you may expect from the name, these are all focused around taking on the Wutai-based enemies you fought through Chapter 1. While you can undertake all of this category as soon as you unlock it in Chapter 2, the final mission is a bit of a roadblock and requires a bit more preparation.

Poison Blade Materia |
The first set of missions here are nothing major and you should be able to brute force them easily. You’ve fought plenty of these Wutai Soldiers in Chapter 1 and the Jia’s and Staff Sergeants are just slightly harder hitting versions of them, the same tactics will work here.
The main difficulty in this sub-category, and one that catches out a lot of new players is the final mission (M4-1-6) here, Search for Wutai Remnants. Despite being a 4 Star mission that you may have already done in other mission categories early on, the boss here can be a real difficulty spike. The Vajradhara Cala’s Tomahawk special will most likely kill you in one-hit unless you prepare for it. Do so by equipping
HP Up Materia, using
Barrier (since it’s a physical skill) and equip any accessories that boost your VIT (such as the
Bulletproof Vest). As for damaging it, use magic like
Fira to take massive chunks of its HP off at once, just remember to bring some
Ethers.
Completing this sub-category will unlock the Mission 4-2: Behind the Scenes sub-category.
