As you approach the end of Crisis Core Reunion you’ll get access to some of the more potent materia. Well, not many come better than SP Master. This fantastic materia will increase your attack impact, and defense at the cost of your SP. This page will guide you through obtaining, and explaining where, and what the SP Master materia is.

The other way to get it is by stealing it from the Abyss Worms in mission 9-6-1. It is a rare steal though, so come equipped with a Mog’s Amulet.

When and Where Can You Get SP Master¶

There are only a couple of places where you can get SP Master which involves either: completing a mission, or a rare steal from the Abyss Worm.

Technically, you can get SP Master as early Chapter 3 by completing the mission 8-4-1: Suspicious Mail 1, and the subsequent missions that follow it until you reach mission 9-6-1: Toughest Monsters. But if you want to complete some of the tougher missions on the way to unlocking it. You’ll need to play around with the Materia Fusion system (unlocked in the same chapter) to create at least Darkness, and HP+ Materia as well as net yourself some good accessories as a lot of monsters 7-Star+ can one-shot you.

Once you have access to the mission, run around until you find Abyss Worms. These enemies are frustrating to fight as they will repeatedly use Absolute Stop Thread or AP Graviga, and I’m sure you can guess what they do. Make sure you come equipped with the Brigand’s Gloves, and the Mog’s Amulet to guarantee a rare steal, and maybe some Sprint Shoes to avoid the Stop.

What Makes SP Master Good¶

This materia allows you to use your SP to increase your attack impact, and defense. If you have all the correct “Break Limit” accessories equipped, you’ll regularly see yourself hitting 99,999 with some of your attack skills. This will absolutely chew through your SP reserves though, so only have this equipped for the tougher fights. Thankfully, you can farm SP by fighting the Mover archetype enemies throughout the game with the last tier giving you a whopping 20,000 SP per enemy!
