Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion

How to 100% the DMW in Crisis Core Reunion

By
Ben Chard

In Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion, the DMW plays a large role in combat. When the reels stop on the same image three times, you’ll get a limit break or summon. This page will tell you how to get 100% on every Image.

Getting 100% on the DMW is one of the longest tasks in the game.

The DMW is a random element to Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion and it will play out in every battle. Once you align three of the same Image, that character/summon’s Limit Break will play out. From time-to-time, you’ll see a memory take over the screen that Zack has had with one of these characters.

Aside from giving more background on the game’s characters, you’ll need to view all of these to get the DMW Master Trophy/Achievement. This is a two-step process, as outlined below:

Obtaining all Limit Breaks in Crisis Core Reunion

The first step, before you can even worry about getting 100% on them all is to actually gather all of the DMW Images, this is a mixture of main story progression and optional missions. The table below will give you a handy list of where to find them all and you can click on each one to get more in-depth information on how to get them:

There are 18 total Limit Breaks in the game.

Collecting all of the Images will unlock the Limit Break Collector Trophy/Achievement and allow you to start focusing on getting 100% for them all.

DMW Master

When you take a look at the DMW menu, you will notice there is a % next to each of the Images, these are in relation to how many memories you have seen. Before you start your DMW grind, bear the following in mind:

  • All Summons only have to be used once to get 100%, this is by far the easiest part of this task.

  • You’ll need to have seen specific story events for memories to start showing up.

With this in mind, it’s best to wait until you reach the final Save Point in Chapter 10 so that you can ensure that you have every possible memory available.

After that, it’s merely hoping the DMW is kind to you, the best way we’ve found to grind this particular Trophy/Achievement is by making use of the best way to level Materia trick. That is to say, go into M1-1-1, leave one enemy alive and then leave the game on while you go do something else. It’s tedious, but there is no better way of doing it. There is, however, one thing you can do to make life easier for yourself.

DMW Materia

As you progress through Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion, you’ll come across DMW Materia, in the name of their Limit Break such as "Rush Assault" iconRush Assault and "Octaslash" iconOctaslash. The purpose of these Materias is to boost the chances of getting that particular Limit Break in the DMW. You can then, in theory, equip the Materia of the Image you need a lot of % for and go into M1-1-1 and have a greater chance of hitting them all.

The late-game shops offer Materia that boost your chances of getting specific Limit Breaks.

These Materia may seem very rare for most of the game, but by the time you reach that final Save Point in Chapter 10, you have the means of unlocking the following Shops which will sell all of the DMW Materia:

Shop Unlock (first availability) DMW Materia
"Research Dept. QMC+" iconResearch Dept. QMC+ Treasure Chest in Gongaga (Chapter 9) "Octaslash" iconOctaslash, "Rush Assault" iconRush Assault, "Air Strike" iconAir Strike, "Meteor Shots" iconMeteor Shots, "Healing Wave" iconHealing Wave, "Lucky Stars" iconLucky Stars
"Junon Souvenirs" iconJunon Souvenirs Complete the mission 2-4-1 (Chapter 10) "Chocobo Stomp" iconChocobo Stomp, "1000 Needles" icon1000 Needles, "Murderous Thrust" iconMurderous Thrust, "Courage Boost!" iconCourage Boost!, "Moogle Power" iconMoogle Power, "Item Mugger" iconItem Mugger
"Bone Village Outlet" iconBone Village Outlet Complete the mission 7-5-3 (Chapter 4) "Hellfire" iconHellfire, "Megaflare" iconMegaflare, "Zantetsuken" iconZantetsuken, "Rebirth Flame" iconRebirth Flame, "Exaflare" iconExaflare
"Online Shop Shade" iconOnline Shop Shade Complete the mission 9-5-4 (Chapter 3) "Apocalypse" iconApocalypse

If you’re not looking to grind while leaving the game idle and know what memories you have seen, there is another way you can use the DMW Materia. Equip Lucky Stars, go into a battle and wait for Lucky Stars Level 5. This will put your Limit state into heavenly, which will massively increase your chances. End the battle as quickly as possible and then equip multiple DMW Materia of the character you’re trying to max.

You can then go back into M1-1-1 and see if you get a new memory. If you do, great, end the battle, save the game, and get your Heavenly status again. If your state drops to High (Sky High is fine still), pause the game, choose to forfeit and restart the battle again. This will put you back into Heavenly to try again. This requires your constant attention, but is by far the best way to complete the DMW.

These are the best methods you can do to give yourself the best chance of completing the DMW as quickly as possible. As a reward, beyond the Trophy/Achievement, you’ll also obtain the "Genji Armor" iconGenji Armor for getting 100% on the DMW.
