Cosmetic modifications to weapons in Sniper Elite 5 are just that, for looks only. It’s cool to have different look equipment in multiplayer, or even to a point in your single-player campaign, but they aren’t going to improve your sharpshooting skills any.

All of the cosmetic mods in Sniper Elite 5 are unlocked depending on your performance in the game. Some will be locked from you if you avoid certain game modes, for example you might need to kill a number of Axis Invaders in the Invasion mode of your single-player campaign - and that is something that might not appeal to everybody - hence the option to turn that mode off.

At least these mods are all cosmetic though and don’t affect the game in any way. There is perhaps something a little jarring about running around northern France with a pistol that has a desert camo pattern on it. Still, each to their own.

The different type of cosmetic tends to be a choice of camo wrap for pistols and SMGs or a cloth or ghillie wrap for your sniper rifles.

Rebellion are promising more weapon skins as part of the upcoming Season Pack roadmap, so we shall wait to see what that brings us.
