Sniper Elite 5

Workbenches

By
Paul McNally

The more workbenches and the beautiful unlockables that they bring to find in Sniper Elite’s Mission 3 - Spy Academy.

This level is a bit of a warren and it’s quite easy to find yourself going around in circles, especially in the old town area and it is certainly not always obvious where you have been before. Couple that with at least one of the workbenches being in a very tough to find location - easily the toughest so far, and you are going to be glad of this page to guide you there.

Where to find the workbenches in Mission 3: Spy Academy

In terms of location, two of them are situated towards the beginning of the mission and are relatively close to each other, although not as close as you would think looking at the map, as here you have to operate on different levels of the town.

The third is a pain to find if you don’t know where you’re going, but once you have it highlighted by, say, a big red rectangle on the image below, it gets a lot easier.

The location of all three workbenches in Mission 3: Spy Academy.

Workbench 1 - SMG workbench

(1 of 2) The red car in the street is the marker you need to locate the SMG workshop.

The red car in the street is the marker you need to locate the SMG workshop. (left), Inside you will find the French have left you a lot of supplies as well as your SMG upgrades. (right)

The SMG workbench is the one we are heading for first here, and looking at the map above it is the workbench situated farthest to the right, deep in the old town. Follow the streets around and you will see a red car parked haphazardly in the middle of the street. Face it the way we are in the screenshot and you will see a doorway to the right. Climb up the two ledges into that room and follow the stone corridor to the workbench.

There is also a door in the next room that is padlocked from your side that you can open with bolt cutters in case you need to revisit it from the other side quickly at a later date to change your loadout.

Workbench 2 – Pistol workbench

(1 of 2) This armoured door will require a satchel charge to gain access so make sure you have one.

This armoured door will require a satchel charge to gain access so make sure you have one. (left), Inside the German armoury you can get the pistol upgrades from Mission 3. (right)

The pistol workshop looks like it is right nearby but it is actually on the next level up of the town. This one is located in the German armoury and you will have to blow the door off with a satchel charge to gain access. Fortunately there is a replacement, along with lots of ammo and weapons inside as well as the workbench. Plant the charge, stand back and in you go.

Workbench 3 - Rifle workbench

(1 of 2) Turn around to face the fortress and look for the highlighted area. That’s where you are headed.

Turn around to face the fortress and look for the highlighted area. That’s where you are headed. (left), When you reach the top of the ledge the Resistance workshop lies waiting. (right)

Now this is the first workbench you are most likely to miss if you are left to your own devices as it is fiendishly hidden away from all but Sniper Elite’s best urban explorers. You can save the best until last here and complete the mission first should you wish because to get to it is more or less on the way to the exfil point.

As you make your way out of the cathedral and down towards the escape boat look back at the fortress walls and look for the area we have highlighted in red. Now move a little to the East and climb the vines onto the ledge and continue to make your way up to the hidden workbench. Easy when you know how.

It’s actually just the other side of the spy academy training room and you can pick the lock on the door next to the workbench room for easy access back if you need it.
