How to use workbenches in Sniper Elite 5

The workbenches are something that some players may choose to ignore but do that at your peril, as they are the best place to get upgrades for your weapons, rather than simply relying on finding them as you make your way around the maps.

Workbenches come in three different flavours, once for each type of gun, rifle, pistol and SMG and once you have located the appropriate bench for your weapon the map you can make many modifications to the gun.

Workbenches are always marked by a flag behind them.

The following pages go into detail about the types of mod you can make, but as a general rule of thumb mods will have both Pros and Cons, which are clearly listed so you can make a decision on whether it is for you or not.

For example, if you are a stealth player you might not be interested in a mod that has a byproduct of making your gun louder, even if it means it gives you more control of over your shot.

Sniper Elite 5 is that kind of game, where you can have almost infinitesimal control over your weapons, from a bit of tape around the stock to stop it slipping, right down to changing out pretty much the entire barrel.

How to use a workbench

Once in the workbench menu you can start to make changes to your weapons.

Approach the workbench and press the indicated control to access it and the screen will change to one showing the types of weapon and what you can change here.

Note that workbenches are always highlighted in a room by a large flag hanging on the wall behind it.

Once you are on the workbench screen you will see which of the weapon types is customisable there. You can then click the cog icon (if there are mods you can make it will be glowing gold) and from there you can dig deep into the chances you can make, all of which will be explained in further detail on the pages that follow.

As you unlock more of the game more mods will become available to you, including things like the ability to use two different kinds of special ammo you can switch between - such as armour piercing or subsonic, depending on your need at the time,
