Next up own our doomed Nazi list in Sni[per Elite 5 is high-ranking Major Jaan Trautmann who we will find in Mission 6: Liberation. This tactical mastermind has been successfully blocking Allied advances through the area, so killing him should strike a decisive blow to any potential German counter-offensive. Let’s see if we can make this assassination any more interesting than the last one.

How to kill Jaan Trautmann¶
Trautman is holed up in a villa on the Eartern side of the map. It’s not particularly heavily guarded but you need to dispatch the guards carefully as Trautmann has (rightly) become paranoid that there is an SoE threat to his life. That’s you, that is.
We took them out fine with a silenced pistol but you could melee kill them to keep the noise down. On one of the guards you will find a collectible as well, so it is well worth a quick rummage after the event. There is also a guard in the next garden over, so watch he doesn’t spot you while you carry out your nefarious deeds.
Anyway, because Trautmann has become so paranoid he has holed himself up in the master bedroom and only comes out to collect his food and drink.
Fortunately the Kill Challenge here is to kill him off by way of poisoning him. Now because he is so paranoid he is unlikely to keep bottles of poison lying around is he? Wrong? There are two bottles lying around within the villa so perform a search and pocket at least one of them.
(1 of 4) Sneak up to the glass outside the master bedroom. If Trautman hears you it is game over.
Now stealthily climb the stairs to the Master Bedroom. Now you will see a door where you can place a satchel charge to gain entry if you just want to shoot Trautmann in the head, but we are going the poisoning route today.
On a table outside the room is a glass of water. Interact with it to poison the liquid. Trautmann will be babbling on with himself from inside the room in an incessant monologue about the French.
Next to drink is a bell. When you ring that it will tell Trautman the drink is ready (it certainly is!) so be prepared to creep quickly across the room to a decent hiding spot to watch events. Be warned, if he sees you you will have to kill him the more traditional way.
If you have done your job quietly enough, Trautmann will emerge from the bedroom, take a big sip of the drink and die.
And that is another successful target chalked off the Kill LIst.
The reward for killing Jaan Trautmann by poisoning is an unlock of the Model D Pistol. Nice.
