Hogwarts Legacy

How to Complete Beasts Class

By
Jessica Dillon

As you progress through your year at Hogwarts, you will find more and more classes opening up. Beasts Class is an important feature of the game as it opens the doorway for you to have some friendly pets and mounts of your very own. The only trick is that you will need to get a bit further into the game to finally take this class and get the tools you need to take care of beasts. The guide below goes over the Beast Class main quest and what it unlocks for you.

Time to learn about some beasts.

How to Unlock Beast Class in Hogwarts Legacy

Although you’ll have been busy with potions, spells and herbology, you won’t have access to Beasts Class for quite a while! Your first Beast Class quest will appear right after you have completed Percival Rackham’s Trial. You can find the class outdoors - head outside from the belltower courtyard and follow the path to the left all the way to the Beast Class.

What Does Beasts Class Unlock?

Beast Class unlocks the ability to take care of Fantastic Beasts. During the class, you will be given two major spells - a grooming brush and beast food! These will allow you to feed and groom the beasts around the beast classroom.

Here, you will also meet Poppy Sweeting, who is the Hufflepuff companion of the game. She will help you learn how to feed and groom some "Puffskein" iconPuffskeins. Afterwards, you’ll be prompted to tend to some kneazles and as you approach these cat-like animals, you’ll see some horrible students pestering the kneazles. After giving the kneazles some care, you’ll need to talk to the Beast teacher Professor Howin to conclude the class.

After the class, make sure to talk to Poppy again. She will take you to meet a white Hippogriff whom you will need to bow before to earn his respect. Afterward, you will use your new tools to care for Highwing before he flies away, and Poppy moves on to her next task. Poppy mentions that she’ll be in touch with you again in the future - something about dealing with poachers!

Highwing is a proud Hippogryph - make sure to bow!

Catching Your Own Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy

Unfortunately, having your first Beasts Class won’t mean you can start collecting your own beasts just yet! To do this, you must unlock the Nab-Sack from Deek in The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom quest. This quest is also a main quest and will come after you complete In the Shadow of the Estate. Those wild Puffskeins will have to wait til later!

Soon you’ll be able to tame your own Puffskeins!

Furthermore, mounts are linked to different quests, so you won’t just be able to stuff them in a nab-sack. The creatures that you can place inside of one can be found scattered over the map, and once you catch them, you will be able to care for them in your Vivarium.
