Hogwarts Legacy

The Coastal Broom Trial - The Sky is the Limit

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to beat Imelda Reyes’ record in The Coastal Broom Trial during The Sky is the Limit side quest in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Start The Sky is the Limit

In order to unlock this quest, you’ll need to first complete Albie Weekes’ other flying quests, Flight Test and Sweeping the Competition, as well as In the Shadow of the Mine main story quest. Albie Weekes will summon you to "Spintwitches Sporting Needs" iconSpintwitches Sporting Needs in "Hogsmeade" iconHogsmeade and ask that you purchase his next broom upgrade for 4,000 Gold.

After forking out for the upgrade, you’ll be asked to test it out at the next broom trial. The Coastal Broom Trial is absolutely miles away, found on the southern coast, west of Clagmar Castle in the "Clagmar Coast" iconClagmar Coast region.

How to Win the Coastal Broom Trial

Once you’ve found the broom trial, speak to Imelda Reyes to begin. To complete Albie’s quest, you’ll need to beat Imelda’s time, which currently sits at 2:42:42 minutes. There are 29 rings to fly through this time, making it the longest of the three trials you’ve done so far.

If you miss a ring you’ll be penalized 3 seconds, but as long as you’re not straying too far from the course there are no rings that are problematic and you should be able to fly through them with no real issues. There are also bubbles that’ll give you speed boosts all across the course. Whilst these help with a smoother and more satisfying flight through the rings, they’re not at all required to beat Imelda’s time. Try to fly through at least a few of the balloons to give yourself a good head start and time gap so that if you do mess up a ring or two, then it’s not the end of the world.

(1 of 2) You can fly through the bubbles to give yourself a bit of a speed boost

You can fly through the bubbles to give yourself a bit of a speed boost (left), and don’t panic if you miss a ring - it’s only a 3 second penalty! (right)

We beat the best time by about 20 seconds and we were by no means “try-harding” - we hit around half of the bubbles and missed no rings. We’re confident that beginner players who struggle a bit with flying will still be able to beat the best time so long as they don’t miss too many rings.

Once you’ve won the race, speak to Imelda to receive a congratulations. Then, return to Albie and tell him the good news and finish up the quest.
