All Space Cadets fighting off the bug invasion in Helldivers 2 will eventually have to start going out of their way to start collecting Samples in order to unlock the ship modules that will improve the overall performance of specific stratagems. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary steps to farm Samples as efficiently as possible.

Sample Types in Helldivers 2¶
There are Common Samples, Rare Samples and Super Samples in Helldivers 2 and the mission difficulty you’ll need to select will depend on what tier of Sample you’re after. Rare Samples can be found on Challenging and above and Super Samples can be found on Suicide and above. If you’re playing with a group of friends then everyone will get all of the extracted Samples, but if anyone dies then they will be dropped on the floor and won’t be counted. With that said, you’ll want to find missions that can be done quickly to reduce the risk of someone dying.
Best Sample Farm Method in Helldivers 2¶
As mentioned above, there are three tiers to Samples, with each one becoming increasingly difficult to obtain due to the level of resistance you’ll come across.
Common Sample Farm¶
If you’re trying to build up your stock of common Samples, then we’ve found Defend missions seem to be the easiest as you can clear out all of the enemies relatively quickly and grab the Samples that are scattered around the area before extracting.
Rare and Super Sample Farm¶
For those going for Rare and Super Samples, the community has agreed that one of the best methods for farming them is by adjusting the difficulty for the Sample you’re after and repeating Blitz: Search and Destroy missions. Here you’ll need to take down Automaton fabricators and Terminid nests and pick up any Samples that are scattered around the area. We recommend that you bring along Eagle Cluster Bomb, Energy Shield Backpack, and a Railgun as this will allow you to go in and clear out all of the enemies as quickly as possible and then focus on grabbing Samples.
Alternatively, you can activate Radar Towers by following our How to Align Radar Towers page as this will highlight POIs on your mini-map which you can explore for common and rare samples. There are specific amounts of samples you can find on each mission, but if you’re trying to farm them as quickly as possible then we don’t recommend that you go out of your way to collect them all and instead do the primary objective, extract and repeat.
