There isn’t much in terms of character customization in Helldivers 2, but there are emotes you can use while out on missions which adds to the social element of the game as you’ll be able to communicate with other players without needing to use a microphone. On this page, we’ll guide you through the necessary steps to unlocking more emotes and how to use them!

How to Use Emotes in Helldivers 2¶
Helldivers 2 is a very action-packed game so it’s nice to take a moment and play around with emotes, but the game never properly explains how to use them. If you wish to perform an emote to one of your teammates then all you need to do is hold left on the D-Pad 
on PS5 or by pressing the B 
key for those on the PC. Unfortunately, you can only have one emote active at a time and the default emote is a simple salute which is pretty basic and boring, but the good news is you can unlock more!
How to Unlock Emotes in Helldivers 2¶
If you want to get your hands on some more emotes then you can do so by visiting the free and premium battle passes via the acquisition menu. These will cost you Warbond Medals which are obtained by completing Main Mission Objectives, Personal and Major Order Challenges, but if you check out our Best Helldivers 2 Medal Farm page then you’ll be able to earn them at a faster rate! Once you’ve purchased your emote of choice, head on over to the armoury and navigate over to the character tab. Here you’ll find the emote option where you can select one of the emotes in your collections!
