Talent Art

It should come as no surprise that as Reyn is a tank, his Talent Art revolves around Aggro and that’s exactly what Mad Taunt does. When used, Reyn will generate a significant amount of Aggro, ideal for keeping the enemy’s attention on him at all times. You can enhance this further with both the Engage (+25% extra Aggro generation) and Berserk (allows Mad Taunt to impact the area around him) Auras. What’s more, Reyn increases his Talent Gauge at a fast rate and if you supplement him with Aggro Up Gems, you’ll never have any issues holding Aggro.

Normal Arts

These are all of the normal Arts for Reyn, which are learned as he levels up.

Bone Upper

Level Learned Art Type
Default Red; Physical

Bone Upper is a Physical Art that is one of Reyn’s most reliable thoughout the adventure. Despite it’s damage being on the lower end, it has a short cooldown and can later be used in conjunction with Dive Sobat to inflict Agility Down on your foes. What’s more, this Art will refill his Talent Gauge based on the level of the Art.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Ether Light Shop (Colony 9), Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine), Colony 6 Shop
Advanced Frost Nebula, Plump Sprahda, Lograt Kromar

Hammer Beat

Level Learned Art Type
Default Red; Physical

Hammer Beat is another Physical Art that increases a spike in Aggro when it connects with the enemy and sits on a rather low cooldown. It’s classed as an area of effect Art however unless all of your enemies are close together, you’ll rarely hit more than one.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Ether Light Shop (Colony 9), Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine), Colony 6 Shop
Advanced Blizzard Belgazas, Satorl Rhogul, Tempest Vang

Wild Down

Level Learned Art Type
Default Green; Physical

Despite learning Wild Down from the beginning, it’s arguably one of the better Arts for Reyn and should never leave your palette. It’s damage is nothing to write home about but it will inflict the Topple status on an enemy suffering the Break status (such as Shulk’s Stream Edge). What makes this Art even better is that it has the lowest cooldown of any Topple Art in the game, allowing Reyn to Topple at will.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Ether Light Shop (Colony 9), Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine)
Advanced Ancient Daedala, Balefael Gogol, Royal Caterpile

Rage

Level Learned Art Type
3 Aura

Rage is Reyn’s first Aura and will grant him an extra 25% damage resistance and restore the Talent Gauge at 2% a second along with granting him a Counter Spike based on his Ether Stat. In practice, this may seem useful but it will also lower his damage by 25% which is also a useful way of keeping Aggro so this is only worth keeping slotted until better Auras come along for Reyn.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Ether Light Shop (Colony 9), Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine), Colony 6 Shop
Advanced Pandora Pod, Bagrus Nebula, Clamorous Dablon

Aura Burst

Level Learned Art Type
5 Purple; Ether

Aura Burst is a useful Ether based Art that is only available to use when Reyn has an Aura active. When used, this will deal damage to nearby enemies while also inflicting the useful Strength Down Debuff to them, lowering their damage output across the board. If you’ve got an Aura slotted, there’s no reason not to take Aura Burst alongside it.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Refugee Camp Shop (Bionis’ Leg)
Advanced Indomitable Daulton, Magnis Ardun, Panasowa Arachno

War Swing

Level Learned Art Type
7 Red; Physical

War Swing is one of Reyn’s better Arts that you can slot, it’s a Physical Art that deals multiple hits to targets around him, each one generating Aggro. What’s more, each hit as the potential to Critical so pairing this with certain Skills can allow you to raise the Party Gauge a lot quicker.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Refugee Camp Shop (Bionis’ Leg)
Advanced Mysterious Barnaby, Lahar Flamii, Zeldia Kromar

Guard Shift

Level Learned Art Type
9 Blue; Ether

Guard Shift is an Art that should only ever be considered when you’re in direct control of Reyn as the AI will never make good use of it. When used, Reyn will be unable to move or attack but will block every single Art that comes his way along with making him immune to the Topple combo.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Refugee Camp Shop (Bionis’ Leg), Colony 6 Shop
Advanced Field Altrich, Pandora Pod

Engage

Level Learned Art Type
11 Aura

Engage is another of Reyn’s Auras that is only relatively useful in the early stages of the game. When active, it will increase the effect of Mad Taunt by 25% while also causing Lock-On to the enemy, preventing them from changing their target. This is lessened when you go up against enemies that resist Lock-On and you should only stick with this until you unlock Berserker.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Hope Farm Shop (Colony 6)
Advanced Asara Telethia, Dark King Barbarus, Envy Sardi

Sword Drive

Level Learned Art Type
16 Red; Physical

Sword Drive is Reyn’s hardest hitting Arts but that’s about all there is to this Art. It’s on a long cooldown too however it’s well worth keeping it on your pallette and upgraded as it’ll deal massive damage in Chain Attacks.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Hope Farm Shop (Colony 6)
Advanced Dark Hox, Reckless Galdon, Trava Kromar

Berserker

Level Learned Art Type
19 Aura

Berserker is by far the best Aura for Reyn and the only one you should use once you have it. This Aura will increase his Strength by up to 210% at Rank X while also making his auto-attacks and Mad Taunt hit enemies in an area of effect. The downside to this Aura is the Physical Defence Down Debuff but once you get Debuff Resist gems, you can even remove this negative too.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Hope Farm Shop (Colony 6), Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine)
Advanced Setor Eks, Ghostly Mahatos, Asha Telethia

Last Stand

Level Learned Art Type
23 Aura

Last Stand is yet another Aura for Reyn that revives Reyn while restoring HP and Party Gauge based on it’s rank. It’s an Art that should be removed completely if you’re not controlling Reyn and even then, Berserker should be your go to so this Art’s usefulness is very situational.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Hope Farm Shop (Colony 6), Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine)
Advanced Clandestine Apety, Kyel Lexos

Shield Bash

Level Learned Art Type
27 Yellow; Physical

Shield Bash, like Wild Down, is arguably the best Daze Art in the game due to it’s low cooldown and quick time to cast. With Reyn having both a Topple and Daze Art, he can do two thirds of the Topple Combo on his own meaning you only need one other party member to start the combo off.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Colony 6 Shop, Drainage Control Room Shop (Ether Mine)
Advanced Feltl Eks, Active Impulso, Baelzeb Gogol

Dive Sobat

Level Learned Art Type
31 Red; Physical

As mentioned with Bone Upper, when you use Dive Sobat after it, you’ll inflict Agility Down on your enemy. Combine this with the fact that Dive Sobat inflicts Paralysis on it’s own and this is an Art you should always have on your palette.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Weapon Shop (Frontier Village)
Advanced Bulganon Nebula, Resplendent Flamii, Stormy Belagon

Magnum Charge

Level Learned Art Type
35 Blue; Ether

Magnum Charge is another Art you should forget about if you have the AI controlling Reyn as they’ll never effectively use the Art. In the hands of the player however, this is a very powerful Art as it will increase the damage of the next Art he uses (up to 4.2x at Rank X) so long as your Talent Gauge is full. As you can imagine, combining this with the already hard hitting Sword Drive will see Reyn put out massive damage to his targets.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Weapon Shop (Frontier Village)
Advanced Furious Jozan, Polkan Telethia, Dorsiar Lizard

Anchor Chain

Level Learned Art Type
39 Aura

Anchor Chain is yet another Aura for Reyn and is his best one to use if you struggle with keeping Aggro. While active, Reyn gains Aggro per second, prevents Knockback and Blow-Down and prevent loss of Aggro when being hit. Unfortunately, for the most part, Bersereker is better in every way so it’s tough to recommend this Art.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Colony 6 Shops, Supply Convey Shop (Sword Valley)
Advanced Veteran Yozel, General Arachno, Aora Telethia

Lariat

Level Learned Art Type
43 Red; Physical

Lariat is a Physical Art that should always have a place on your palette for its usefull, if not unremarkable features. The Art will strike all targets in an arc in front of Reyn and each hit will fill the Talent Gauge by 25% and has the ability to Critical making this an easy Art to recommend.

Book Type Location
Intermediate Colony 6 Shop, Supply Convey Shop (Sword Valley)
Advanced Protective Torquidon, White Hox, Aora Telethia
