Samin’s Research Report Cont. Is the third from the last Endemic Life side quest in
Monster Hunter Wilds, and this time, you’ll be tasked to capture a
Rime Beetle. Read on to find out what you need to do to unlock the quest, and where you need to go to find the Rime Beetle, including tips on how to catch it.
This time, Samin will ask you to capture a Rime Beetle for him.
Quest Start¶
Before you can begin the quest, you must have completed the following quests: Dareel’s Research Report, Samin’s Research Report, Dareel’s Research Report Cont. This means you’ll need to have finished story mission 4-1, New Ecosystems. Once you’ve met these conditions, head over to the Windward Plains Base Camp, and speak to Samin who can be found inside the Research Tent. After speaking to him, he’ll ask you to capture the Rime Beetle.
Where to Find the Rime Beetle¶
This is one of the easier Endemic Life side quests, as the Rime Beetles are plenty, and they don’t require any specific time or season. The best place to find them is in the Iceshard Cliffs zone. The Rime Beetle is a small blue beetle that slowly rolls little snowballs across the terrain. This is one of the rare quests where you can go to your map, and then mark them, allowing your Seikret (mount) to automatically lead you to it. To do this, go to the map, press , select the white herb icon with
/
, and then scroll down until you find the Rime Beetle before setting it as a waypoint. Now, press in the right stick (
), and finally press
to automatically go there.
(1 of 3) Go to the map, select the white herb icon, and scroll down to the Rime Beetle. The Seikret will automatically take you to one.
Rime Beetles can be found during any time or season, however, you’ll find more during the season of Plenty for obvious reasons. In general, Area 2 has the most Rime Beetles, but you can find them in almost every area. When you reach the Rime Beetle, equip your Capture Net, and scoop it up before heading back to Samin in the Research Tent in Windward Plains Base Camp for your reward.
Reward¶
The reward for this quest is the following items: 10x Mandragora, 5x
Honey, and 100 Guild Points. That’s it for Samin’s Research Report Cont. side quest. You’ll need to wait until story 4-3,
Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns, which is available once you reach HR20. Where you’ll get another two quests, one from both Dareel and Samin.
