Altering Your Hunter and Palico¶
Shortly after reaching base camp you’ll be shown the wonder that is your tent, where all kinds of management and modifications can be done. One of these is the “Appearance Menu”, where you’ll get the option to change your hunter’s appearance, your equipment’s appearance, the appearance of your Palico’s appearance and eventually the ability to customize your Seikret.
To edit your character’s appearance, pick the “Change Appearance” option while in your tent and you’ll go back to a pared-down version of the character creation screen, where you can choose to customize either your hunter or your Palico. Unfortunately, limitations abound, and this is best viewed as a “barber” option rather than a full respec - you can change your hair style and color, eye color, teeth color, facial hair and color, makeup and face paint (including “scars”, such as they are), voice pitch, bearing and clothing. You cannot change your gender, alter your voice type, tweak any of your facial features or change your skin tone.
Your Palico’s base fur pattern cannot be changed, but almost every other option can be altered.

Customizing Your Armor¶
You can also modify your armor via the “Equipment Appearance” option, where you’ll see several categories you can tweak. First, if you select the name of the gear itself you can replace the default appearance of a piece of gear with a (currently) narrow selection of transmogs. These transmogs aren’t existing armors, just appearances, which at the time of writing include the “Guild Knight” set and the “Feudal Soldier” set, and a few knick-knacks like eye patches, oni horns and “Wyverian Ears”.
The second option to the right is a toggle switch that allows you to hide or show the armor, as you please. Particularly useful for hiding helmets, as many are garish and hide that gorgeous (or disgusting) face you worked so hard on! Finally are two pigment options, which do not apply for most normal, in-game armor, but if you want to customize any of the transmog colors (and presumably later DLC armor) you can do that here. You can also alter the visibility and color of your underclothes and equip cosmetic pendants here, if you wish.
(1 of 6) Monster Hunter is all about playing dress-up, but sometime you’ll have to choose stats over aesthetics.
Like with your Hunter, you can alter your Palico’s equipment, giving them a choice between transmogs and hiding any offending gear you’d rather not see.
