Okay, we can be real here - one of the reasons we play Monster Hunter games is to play dress-up. Sure, climbing the ladder is fun and all, getting better gear to beat bigger monsters to get better gear, but sometimes somebody just wants to wreck a wyvern and make plate mail out of its remains as a fashion statement… or a bikini. We know this, you know this, and Capcom knows this, which is why adding new armor via DLC is going to keep a segment of the gaming community coming back. This page will cover how to complete the event quest Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo, acquire a
Mimiphyta Ticket, and use that to craft the
Mimiphyta helmet in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Page Breakdown¶
Starting Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo¶
As long as you’re connected to the internet and keep your game updated, you should have access to this quest. Talk to Alma and scroll down to the “Event Quests” option and select it to see the quest Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo. To start this hunt you must be Hunter Rank 9+, which functionally means you’ve completed the story questline and are capable of hunting high rank monsters. As the quest’s name gives away, your target here is a Kut-Ku, which just so happens to be the first high rank monster you’re tasked with vanquishing in the post-game.

(1 of 3) Talk to Alma and find this quest under the Event Quest tab. You must be Hunter Rank 9+ to start this quest.
Mimiphyta Ticket Drop and Mimiphyta Armor¶
For this quest you’re essentially replaying the first post-game assignment Lured by Abundance - it’s got the same setting (Forest, Daytime, Plenty) and the same target, except this time you can just kill the Kut-Ku instead of capturing it. Fire resistance will help, as will
Large Dung Pods, as the Kut-Ku dwells in a pack, and you don’t want to fight several of these at a time… if for no other reason than because it’ll take longer to put down the target Kut-Ku.
Unlike normal Kut-Ku hunts, clearing this quest can get you a Mimiphyta Ticket - just complete this event quest like any other hunt and hope you get the drop you need. We were lucky(?) and got two Mimiphyta Tickets after our first run. Once you have a Mimiphyta Ticket, travel back to any base camp and talk to Gemma, choose the option “Forge/Upgrade Armor”, then scroll all the way to the bottom of the high rank armor list to find a new entry - the Mimiphyta alpha set1 Unfortunately there’s only one piece available to craft now, the Mimiphyta helmet, and you’ll need the following materials:
- Mimiphyta Ticket x2
Kut-Ku Scale+ x4
Congalala Pelt+ x2
If you’re lucky you’ll have the Mimiphyta Tickets and the Kut-Ku Scale+ materials, but you may have to hunt a Congalala for the
Congalala Pelt+ materials.
(1 of 3) Defeat the target Kut-Ku and with luck you’ll get some Mimiphyta Tickets.
When you have what you need, craft this helmet. It’s… not exceptional, stat-wise, granting the Ambush and
Entomologist skills - not something you’re going to don to face down an elder dragon, most likely. It’s also only a tier five piece of armor, so you’ll likely outgrow the defense stats soon enough. One thing it does have going for it is how silly it is. You’re pretty much wearing a live bird on your head! It even blinks! This helmet can also be used as a transmog, if you prefer its appearance over other helmets. You can even adjust the colors, if you wish! All in all, it’s a short little hunt for a free helmet, even if you only care about the cosmetics.
