Manor Lords

Getting and Crafting Shoes

By
Craig Robinson

Manor Lords has a fairly in-depth luxury resource system, which your citizens need to become happier. Focusing on their luxury needs is very important, as that is what allows them to level up their Burgage Plots. This is the key gameplay loop of Manor Lords, where you will need to upgrade them to increase your settlement level, and in doing so, unlock development points

As part of that process, your citizens will start demanding Shoes as one luxury source of clothing. To get shoes in Manor Lords, you need a Cobblers Extension and turn Hides into Leather to make it. Here’s everything you need to know to reach this point in the game.

Cobblers will make Shoes for you in Manor Lords.

Making Shoes in Manor Lords

Like most commodities, players will need to create extensions at Burgage Plots. In this instance, to make shoes, you need the following requirements:

  • Have a Level 2 Burgage Plot with an Extension spare.
  • Create a Cobbler’s Extension.
  • Create a Tannery from the Industrial building tab.
  • Have spare Hides and Leather.

Like all artisan jobs, you will need a level 2 Burgage Plot, and have space for an Extension. You can then select Cobblers Workshop, and build it by spending 5 Regional Wealth and 5 Planks. From there, you now need to build a Tannery, and have someone fetch hides to then turn into Leathers.

To get Hides, we recommend you do the following:

  • Create a Goat Shed at a Burgage Plot.
  • Hunt wild animals using a Hunting Camp.
  • Unlock the Trapping and Pelt Extraction Developments - Requires two Development Points that generates passive Meat and Hide to your settlement.
  • Purchase Hide and or Leather from the Trading Post - Costs between 14 and 16 Regional Wealth per item, and requires you to set up a trade route to reliably acquire it.

Make sure to build a Tannery to produce Leather, as Leather is required for making Shoes in Manor Lords.

Typically, you’ll passively generate Hides via the Hunting Camp and the Goat Shed in your Burgage Plots. Burgage Plots are consistently the most reliable, but, you can get bursts of Hides via the Hunting Camps. If you intend on generating a long-term supply of Shoes, then the research that unlocks passive pelts and trading for hide are important to keep stockpiles up.

If you’re creating Shoes for the Level 3 Burgage plots requirements, we honestly recommend making clothes and cloaks. Linen and Wool is much easier to get your hands on. Dyes are slightly problematic if your town gets too many people, as dye-making becomes harder. Yet, it is very easy to stockpile berries for dye making than it is for Leather year-round.
