Lords of the Fallen (2023)

Abbot Vernoff Key Location in Lords of the Fallen

By
Craig Robinson

The Abbot Vernoff Key is a progression blocker the player requires to access some side loot, alongside some passageways that lead to the other two areas for the beacon quest. However, getting the key is not without its own hurdles. In this guide, we will show you where to get the Abbot Vernoff key in Lords of the Fallen, with instructions on how to reach the location.

The Abbot Vernoff Key is inside the church building in the second half of the Manse of Hallowed Brothers.

How to get Abbot Vernboff’s Key in Lords of the Fallen

(1 of 6) Complete the Barracks and Kitchen puzzles to gain access to this walkway.

Abbot Vernoff’s key is located inside the main locked chapel/church building in the second half of the Manse of Hallowed Brothers. To access the building, players will need to work their way through the barrack/kitchen area and cross the bridge to where the locked gate is guarded by a knight and his good doggos. When you make your way over the bride, you will need to traverse the outdoor pathway, near the paladin and his friends around a fountain. From there, continue until you enter a darker pathway, with a Sin Piercer Archer and her good not so friendly barky allies. Feel free to use the "Umbral Lamp" iconUmbral Lamp and path through the gap in the fence to make dealing with swarming enemies easier, as evidenced in the images above

When you’re done with the archer and her pals, go through the tunnel, and open the fence. This will lead to a garden area. From the garden region, you want to cross over to the other side and climb the outdoor staircase. This leads to a pathway that turns right towards an optional mini-boss and left to enter the chapel building.

When you enter the chapel building, you must have two choices to go right and straight onto a secret room with loot, or left to continue on progressing through the level. When you go left, you will need to enter the Umbral to climb a hidden ladder. Go up the ladder, and follow the Umbral pathway around so you can enter the chapel through the rooftops and climb down towards a balcony. From that balcony, you can enter the other side of that locked gate to where you began climbing the Umbral ladder in the first place. Feel free to unlock the door to get a shortcut later.

Now, the last thing you need to do is jump into the chapel proper and go straight for the altar at the back. The alter contains the Abbot Vernoff key needed to progress the level. Don’t forget to unlock the doors from the inside, so you can get all the shortcuts to the chapel unlocked.

With the Abbot Vernoff key acquired, you can now head back into the garden area, and use the key on the doors in the garden. One of the doors will lead to a small room below the optional boss with loot in the Umbral, albeit guarded by Wraiths. The other takes you to a side pathway to the next garden, with a destructible cover obscuring a hidden pathway that leads directly to the roof above the Vestige in the Manse, alongside a hidden item pickup.
