Lords of the Fallen features an interesting mechanic where you can visit a different realm and find hidden paths via the Umbral Lamp. However, if you remain in Umbral for too long you’ll be visited by a difficult enemy that’s called, the Scarlet Shadow. Read below for tips on how to defeat it!

Where To Find the Scarlet Shadow in Lords of the Fallen¶

If you want to face the Scarlet Shadow then you’ll want to enter Umbral and wait for the dread meter which is located in the top right of your screen to fully build up. Here the meter in the top right will turn red and you’ll have a red glowing aura around your hand. However, we wouldn’t recommend you try taking on the Scarlet Shadow until you’ve completed the game and your character has a proper build or you’re very skilled in souls-like games. Once your Umbral Meter has been maxed the Scarlet Shadow will quickly be on your tail and you can tell where it is by paying close attention to the red shadow on the ground.

For those planning on taking it on then you’ll want to beware of its attacks, such as lunging towards you, or swinging their blade, but the most dangerous one you’ll want to make sure you avoid is it’ll do a Spinning Slash. Additionally, you’ll want to constantly keep on the move as it’ll regularly disappear underground and attempt to strike you from below. Overall, it has lots of health and it deals lots of damage, so you’ll want to play on the safer side and go in for one or two attacks and then retreat. If any adds spawn throughout the battle deal with them first before continuing to chip away at the Scarlet Shadow’s health.

Upon killing the Scarlet Shadow you’ll be rewarded with Umbral Scouring x20 and the Umbral Eye of Marco the Axe which adds the following effects to your Umbral Lamp: Cursed in form, your presence in Umbral is both noticed and feared or Soulflay Charge x1.
