Lords of the Fallen (2023)

Stats and Attributes Explained - Lords of the Fallen

By
Matt Chard

As with most role-playing games, stats play a huge part in how your character performs, and it’s no different in Lords of the Fallen (2023). If you’re new to this genre, or you haven’t played them in a while, all the different attributes can be confusing. Read below to find out what each stat will offer your character, and what attributes you should use for your playstyle.

Leveling Up in Lords of the Fallen

Interact with the Vestige and select “Upgrade Character” to level up in Lords of the Fallen. This requires Vigor to do so.

Increasing your stats comes from leveling up which can be done at any Ancient Vestige, or Vestige Seedlings (think bonfires in Dark Souls). To do this, you’ll need Vigor which is this game’s XP or Souls if you’re familiar with From Software‘s games. When you have accrued enough Vigor, head to a Vestige, and select level up. Here, you’ll be able to upgrade the various attributes which will make your character stronger. This allows you to raise your health, give you more stamina, deal more damage, enhance your defensive capabilities such as dodging, or blocking, and much more. One problem you may face when playing Lords of the Fallen is knowing what each attribute represents. Read the table below to get a better understanding of it.

Lords of the Fallen Attributes and Stats

Icon Attribute Description
- Level Self-explanatory. The level will show you your overall character level. This can be useful when creating builds with a set limit in mind. Used predominantly in PvP where the community will come up with a number that balances out the PvP a bit.
thumb_ItemImg_CUR_Vigor.png Vigor To level up, you need Vigor, and to get Vigor, you need to defeat enemies. The more difficult they are, the more Vigor you’ll gain. Fighting in the Umbral Realm will increase the multiplier on which you earn Vigor.
Strength1_Icon_Lotf.png Strength This stat allows you to wield, and deal more damage with heavier weapons such as a Greatsword, or a Club. Upgrade this stat if you plan on dealing maximum damage with heavy weapons.
Agility_Icon_Lotf.png Agility Agility, also known as Dexterity in similar games, is responsible for lighter, and more agile weapons such as Daggers, or Bows. Like Strength, this will give you more agile weapons to choose from as well as increase the damage you deal with them.
Endurance_Icon_Lotf.png Endurance Upgrade Endurance if you want to increase your stamina and overall equip load. Stamina is used for most actions in the game. From dodging and blocking to sprinting and attacking. Equip Load on the other hand determines your weight. The lower the equipped load, the quicker and more agile you become while the opposite is true if it is higher. The game will tell you what equip load you’re at. For example: Light, Medium, and Heavy.
Vitality_Icon_Lotf.png Vitality Vitality does what it says on the tin. Adding levels to this will increase your health pool, and with the enemies and bosses you’ll be fighting here, you’re going to need it.
Radiance_Icon_Lotf.png Radiance Radiance is a magic stat (think Holy). Increasing this stat allows you to deal more damage with radiant spells. Furthermore, it’ll allow you to equip more powerful radiant catalysts and spells. Increasing both Radiance and Inferno will allow you to wield Umbral equipment.
Inferno_Icon_Lotf.png Inferno Inferno is a magic stat (think Pyromancer). Increasing this stat allows you to deal more damage with infernal spells. Furthermore, it’ll allow you to equip more powerful infernal catalysts and spells. Increasing both Radiance and Inferno will allow you to wield Umbral equipment.

Best Attributes for Builds

Now you know what the stats and attributes do, you may be wondering what ones you should level up when focusing on a particular build, or playstyle. Read below for a few build examples and what stats you should level up for them.

Strength Build

Strength builds in Souls-likes are known for their brute strength and high defenses at the cost of speed, and dodging. When playing these builds, you’ll normally be wielding a large oversized weapon that is slow, but powerful. Furthermore, blocking is preferred (although not limited to) to dodging. The best base classes for this archetype are the Hallowed Knight and the Udirangr Warwolf. If this sounds like the class/build for you, increase these attributes: Strength, Vitality, Endurance.

Agility Build

Agility builds are more known for their ability to get in, deal some damage, and get out. These predominantly use lighter agile finesse weapons such as daggers, katanas, swords, and ranged attacks. The best base classes for this archetype are the Exiled Stalker, Mournstead Infantry, Blackfeather Ranger, and the Partisan. If this sounds like the class/build for you, increase these attributes: Agility, Vitality, Endurance.

You can target specific stats when leveling up. This is how you create builds.

Mage Builds

The mage builds are generally known for the glass cannon, high damage, low defense play style. Although that is typically the case for attack-focused builds, you could choose a more support-focused build instead where you’ll take buffs and debuffs more over attack spells. In Lords of the Fallen, there are three magic types, Radiance, Inferno, and Umbral. For the latter, you’ll need to level up both Radiance and Inferno.

The best base classes for these archetypes are the Orin Preacher for Radiance, Pyric Cultist for Inferno then either of them or the Condemned for Umbral. If this sounds like the class/build for you, increase these attributes: Radiance: Radiance, Vitality, Endurance. Inferno: Inferno, Vitality, Endurance. Umbral: Radiance, Inferno, Vitality, Endurance.

Conclusion

There you have it. For the builds, only use these as a base template and not a full build. The reason Vitality and Endurance are chosen for all the builds is because they are generally useful stats; it’s always nice to have more health and stamina. Saying that, you only want about 20-30 in them for melee characters with the rest going into their main stat (Strength/Agility) while the mage class can go for less as you’ll spend more time at distance.
