Begin the Main Mission: Excavation Site
Description¶
When controlled, Forward Operating Bases reveal Banished and UNSC activity in the surrounding region, serve as fast travel hubs and rally points of UNSC Marine fire support, and prove access to vehicle drops, weapons, and weapon variants. Gaining Valor unlocks available resources at all captured FOBs. Defeat the Banished and access the terminal to claim this FOB.
Defeat the Enemies and collect UNSC Audio Log¶
Once you’ve initiated the main mission, Excavation Site, head to the island northeast of The Tower which can be accessed by crossing the bridge. Upon arrival, you’ll need to defeat all the enemies within the area which include Brute, Jackals and Grunts. Here you can either sit up on the nearby hill and pick off the enemies with a BR75 or you drop into the area and deal with them quickly with a shotgun.

If you have upgraded your Grappleshot to have Voltaic, then you can shoot it at the brutes to stun them for a short while. Finally, interact with the control panel in the center of the platform to capture the base, then pick up the UNSC Audio Log from the yellow container.
