This page will show you where to find every Aether Current in the Thavnair area of the Endwalker expansion in Final Fantasy XIV. In order to unlock flying in Thavnair, you will once again need to find all the Aether Currents in the area, some of which require you to complete certain quests in order to gain that Aether Current.
You can access 5 world aether currents and 2 quest aether currents on your first visits to Thavnair. The rest won’t be unlocked until a fair bit later in the Main Scenario once you gain access to the second half of the map.
World Aether Currents¶
These aether currents can be found on the overworld map in Thavnair.
1. River East of Yedlihmad¶
From Yedlihmad, head east until you see a shallow river. The aether current is found nestled in a stony outcrop at the north edge of the river in front of a fallen log (Thavnair X: 27.5, Y: 30.9, Z: 0.0).

2. Saltwind’s Welcome Near Akyaali¶
On a little outcrop overlooking the beach at Thavnair 17.9, Y: 32.2, Z: 0.2 you will see the aether current.

3. Perfumed Rise¶
Climb to the top of the Perfumed Rise to find the aether current at Thavnair X: 19.1, Y: 15.7, Z: 0.8 looking out towards the colorful city of Radz-at-Han.

4. Hamsa Hatchery¶
When you reach the Hatchery, look inside a ruined building for the aether current.

5. Giantsgall Grounds¶
This aether current is found across a pool of water on a ledge at the Giantsgall Grounds. To access the ledge, look for the wooden ramp with the Sramul NPC nearby. Run up the ramp and turn east to drop down on to the ledge with the aether current.

6. Pavana’s Remorse¶
After you begin the Main Scenario Quest Beyond the Depths of Despair you can finally access the other part of the map in Thavnair. Head over to the pond at Pavana’s Remorse (X: 23.9 Y: 14.6 Z: 0.0) where you will find the first current of this new area.

7. Shroud of Samgha north of Pavana’s Remorse¶
From the last aether current, head directly north until you spy a rock formation with the aether current sitting proudly on top at X: 23.3, Y: 12.4, Z: 0.3.

8. South East of Palaka’s Stand¶
After reaching Palaka’s Stand, head south east where the aether current can be found on top of another rock formation at X: 32.5, Y: 18.2, Z: 0.2 though this one is initially concealed from view until you move nearer.

9. The Font of Maya¶
In the far south west of this section of the map lies the Font of Maya and your next aether current. You might be forgiven for thinking the aether current resides at the center of the Font but you can actually find it just behind the statues to the south at X: 22.5, Y: 25.2, Z: 0.1.

10. Near Night’s Watch¶
Head south east from the Font of Maya towards the Night’s Watch. The final world aether current is found in a little nook by a fallen tree at X: 27.3, Y: 29.9, Z: 0.0.

Quest Aether Currents¶
You can receive these aether currents by completing the following side quests in Thavnair:
Steppe Child¶
To begin this quest, speak to Ogul on the pier in Yedlihmad (Thavnair X: 25.5, Y: 35.9, Z: 0.0) after completing the Main Scenario Quest “Fisherman’s Friend (Level 80)”.
Talk to Ogul to begin the quest for this aether current.
Alchemist or Dancer¶
This quest Alchemist or Dancer can be started by speaking to Jalamuc in The Great Work (Thavnair X: 11.2, Y: 21.0, Z: 0.0) once the Main Scenario Quest “A Boy’s Errand (Level 80)” is available.
Speak to Jalamuc to begin the quest.
In Agama’s Footsteps¶
This quest will unlock upon your second visit to Thavnair. You can start this quest by speaking to the Weary Radiant outside Palaka’s Stand (X:30.7 Y:17.0) after giving the villagers the hot chai during the Main Scenario Quest “Simple Pleasures”.

Radiant Patrol¶
This quest will unlock upon your second visit to Thavnair after giving the villagers the hot chai during the Main Scenario Quest “Simple Pleasures”. You can start this quest by speaking to the Radiant Host Captain inside Palaka’s Stand at (X:29.1 Y:17.4).

Simple Pleasures¶
This is a Main Story Quest that will unlock after completing the Main Story Quest Warm Hearts, Rekindled Hope (Level 85). As part of the reward for completion, you will receive the final aether current of Thavnair and thus, be able to fly!
