This page will explain the changes to the Aether Compass in FFXIV Endwalker.

What Happened to the Aether Compass in Endwalker?¶

With the arrival of the 6.0 patch and new expansion, some changes were made to the inventory system, notably the location of the Aether Compass. This was moved out of the Key Items tab in order to save some precious inventory space on the already strained FFXIV servers. So if you also panicked when you checked the Key Items tab only to find it gone, fear not.

Where to Find the Aether Compass in Endwalker¶

Simply open the Duty menu and click the Collection tab. The Aether Compass will have its own entry there and you can then drag it to a hotbar to use when out in the field again.

Open the Duty tab and navigate to Collection to find the Aether Compass.

How to Use the Aether Compass¶

Now you’ve found the new location, you can use the Aether Compass in the exact same way as past expansions by equipping it to a hotbar and simply pressing the item like you would any other skill. It will flash a message telling you where the closest Aether Current in the current area is.

Activate the Aether Compass on your hotbar to get a message of the nearest Aether Current location.
