The Bull Head Brute is one of the new types of enemies introduced in the remake for Resident Evil 4 (2023). You’ll encounter them on the farm during Chapter 1 of the main story, between the village courtyard and the Lakeside Settlement. We’ll show you how to kill it on this page.

How to Kill the Bull Head Brute on the Lakeside Settlement Farm¶

Use the Shotgun to Hit the Brute¶

The Bull Head Brute will only appear when you trigger the encounter with them, which occurs when you enter the barn where the Wooden Cog for the gate mechanism can be found. You’ll have some time to prepare before it bursts through the barn doors, so you’ll want to make sure that you have a full round of shotgun ammo ready. The brute is much tougher than the other regular villagers, so it’ll take a lot more to kill them. The shotgun is likely to be the most damaging weapon that you have available to you at this point, so it’s your best chance at killing the brute quickly before it has time to overwhelm you in melee range.

Or Throw a Hand Grenade at the Brute¶

As an alternative, you could start the fight with the brute by tossing a Hand Grenade at it while it’s still by the barn doors. This will inflict significant damage and you should be able to kill it with fewer shotgun rounds as a result. However, it’s not entirely necessary so you may want to hold on to the grenade unless you’re low on shotgun ammo. You should start shooting the brute as soon as it appears, and aim for the body while avoiding the weapon. If you hit the weapon it has a chance to deflect your bullets, so they’ll inflict no damage to the brute.

It’s likely that the brute will be able to reach you before you can kill it with enough shotgun rounds. You’ll need to press crouch to evade its spinning attack when this happens, and you may need to do this repeatedly as you reload. Just keep shooting the brute as soon as you’ve reloaded and it should fall before it has time to attack you again.
