How to Defeat The Verdugo in Resident Evil 4 Remake

By
Shane Williams

Resident Evil 4 Remake was released on the 24 March 2023 and as you may already know if you’ve played any of the other Resident Evils there will be certain trophy/achievements tied to killing enemies in a certain way. This page will navigate you through the necessary steps to defeating the Verdugo, so you can bag the Wave Goodbye, Right Hand Trophy.

You’ll unlock the Wave Goodbye, Right Hand trophy after killing the Verdugo.

How To Get The Wave Goodbye, Right Hand Trophy

Once you’ve interacted with the switch at the end of the Underground Laboratory in Chapter 10 the Verdugo boss will spawn and you’ll have two options. Defeat it and bag the Wave Goodbye, Right Hand Trophy or alternatively you can run around the Laboratory whilst evading its attacks until the elevator arrives and escapes. However, we’re interested in the trophy, so here are some tips on how you can defeat it.

Activate Liquid Nitrogen Dispensers

Whilst you’re running around the laboratory you’ll notice red buttons that you can interact with that will cause liquid nitrogen to rain down on Verdugo and temporarily freeze him, so you’ll want to focus your attention on getting him caught in it. The best way to do this is to perform a loop around the lab, then whilst the Verdugo is playing catch up, activate the nitrogen, so it runs into it.

Use High Powered Weapons

Once you’ve successfully frozen the Verdugo you’ll want to pull out your strongest weapons, such as the Shotgun, Magnum and Grenades. If you’ve purchased the Rocket Launcher and have got the ammunition, then this is the perfect weapon as it deals lots of damage which is needed to chip away at the large amount of health the Verdugo has.

(1 of 2) Lure the Verdugo into the liquid nitrogen

Lure the Verdugo into the liquid nitrogen (left), and use your strongest weapons to deal the most damage within this timeframe (right)

Additionally, when Verdugo has become unfrozen you’ll want to sprint to the next dispenser, but be sure to keep looking back and getting a few extra shots in along the way to speed up the process of chipping away at his health. If you’re playing on Normal, then you should freeze the boss 3-4 times before it is defeated, so make sure you’ve got some healing items ready incase you get hit.

Evade His Attacks

As you’re repeating the process of trying to hit the Verdugo with the liquid nitrogen you’ll notice that it will disappear, so you’ll want to keep a lookout, as it’s tail will come out of a random vent and attempt to swipe you, so you’ll want to be ready to evade by pressing DualSense-ButtonCircle on PlayStation or Joy-Con-ButtonB on Xbox. Upon killing the Verdugo you’ll unlock the Trophy/Achievement Wave Goodbye, Right Hand!
