Resident Evil 4 Remake

Ranking Requirements Explained - Resident Evil 4 Remake

By
Ben Chard

Resident Evil 4 Remake launched on March 24th 2023 and is a fantastic remake of one of the most revered games ever created. As with the original Resident Evil 4, there are multiple difficulties and if you want to obtain every Trophy, you’ll need to play on every one of them. This page will give you all the details you need to know about how your ranking is determined in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Obtaining an S+ Rank will unlock powerful rewards like the Cat Ears shown here.

S+ Rank Requirements in Resident Evil 4 Remake

S+ Rank is the highest you can obtain for RE4 Remake, and you’ll need to get it on various difficulties if you want to unlock everything there is and get all of the Trophies/Achievements. So, what are you graded on when trying to achieve S+ Rank, the main requirement is your playtime, check out the table below to find out more:

Difficulty Playtime Max Saves Allowed
Assisted 04:00:00
Standard 05:00:00
Hardcore 05:30:00
Professional 05:30:00 15

Outside of the playtime requirement, you must achieve this on a New Game, you cannot use a New Game Plus to go for this. That means your weapons are going to start from scratch, however you can make life easier for yourself, especially if you are going for an S+ Rank on Professional by unlocking the bonus accessories or weapons, especially with Infinite Ammo.

Also, remember that on Professional Mode, there are no autosaves, so you’ll really have to be picky about where you use your 15 Saves when going for that S+ Rank.

S+ Rank Rewards in RE4 Remake

The big question is, why would you want to achieve an S+ Rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake beyond the challenge it provides? Many of the best unlockable weapons or accessories come from achieving S+ Rank on the various difficulties, the table below will provide you with all the details:

Difficulty S+ Rank Reward
Assisted Wolf Tail (increases melee damage)
Standard Deer Antlers (increases knife damage)
Hardcore Chicken Hat (decreases damage taken)
Professional Cat Ears (infinite ammo)

All of these accessories are incredibly powerful and it’s highly recommended to pick up at least the Chicken Hat if you’re going for the S+ Rank on Professional. On top of this, there are two Trophies/Achievements for getting S+ Ranks, Mission Accomplished S+ for getting it on Standard, and S+ Rank Investigator for getting it on Hardcore.

A Rank Requirements in Resident Evil 4 Remake

This is the only other rank you should be interested in outside of the S+ Rank as there are rewards and trophies/achievements to be had there too. The requirements are a bit more lenient here, and you can use a New Game Plus to target this rank. The table below lists the full requirements for an A Rank:

Difficulty Playtime Max Saves Allowed
Assisted 04:00:00
Standard 12:00:00
Hardcore 10:00:00
Professional 07:00:00

As you can see, there are no max save limit for an A Rank, even on Professional Mode. You can also feel free to use Bonus weapons in your quest for an A Rank, which should make life a lot easier.

A Rank Rewards in RE4 Remake

Once again, the question is, why would you want to achieve an A Rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake beyond the challenge it provides? Like S+ Rank, there are many rewards you can unlock, and the table below will provide you with all the details:

Difficulty S+ Rank Reward
Assisted
Standard Square Glasses, Iron Helmet, Knitted Hat (cosmetic only)
Hardcore Armor Costume for Ashely (can’t be carried away)
Professional Chicago Sweeper (Weapon)

There are two key unlocks here, the first being the Armor Costume for Ashley, which will make your S+ Rank attempt on Professional a lot simpler as it will make it so she can’t be carried away. The second key unlock is the Chicago Sweeper weapon, this is Tommy Gun like weapon that uses SMG ammo with an Exclusive upgrade that grants Infinite Ammo, another that will help with an S+ Rank run.

On top of this, there are two Trophies/Achievements for getting S+ Ranks, Mission Accomplished S+ for getting it on Standard, and S+ Rank Investigator for getting it on Hardcore.
