As players battle on through the events of Fire Emblem Engage, they will always see a preview of what the rounds outcome will be including a weapons effectiveness. Whilst this gives players a good indicator of whether the skirmish will work in their favor, it won’t count some elements of battle. Whilst cycling through weapons to check for the best outcome is very user friendly, just keep in mind with won’t include and missed hits or critical strikes.
Here’s some key points to remember about weapon strengths and weaknesses in Fire Emblem Engage. Swords are strong against Axes, whilst Axes win out against Lances and are in turn strong against Swords. Any ranged weapon is weak against melee weapons, with Bows being especially weak with no way to counter close quarters attacks. Bow units aren’t useless be any stretch of the imagination as they can easily deal critical damage to flying units.
Long story short, in most Axe Vs. Sword circumstances in Fire Emblem Engage, Swords will luck out due to causing breaks. This allows units to stop an opposing unit to counter an attack. Imagine knocking someone down and they drop their weapon, forcing them to fumble back to their feet and regain their stamina. This is what a Break represents in-game.
Of course, there’s a case to be made for having the bigger stick regardless of weaknesses when thinking about Axes Vs. Swords in Fire Emblem Engage.
