In Fire Emblem games, there’s a correlation between the amount of time characters spend interacting with each other and their dispositions towards each other, a simple system that remains intact for Fire Emblem Engage. This page will cover how to earn Support Points, increase Support Levels between characters, and the bonuses you’ll gain as your Support Levels improve.
How To Earn Support Point in Fire Emblem Engage¶
Pretty much every time two characters interact in some way that’s driven by the player, they’ll earn Support Points. This includes:
-
Performing an action in combat while adjacent to another character or characters. Two characters can typically only earn Support Points this way once per turn, and only for actions taken on the player’s turn.
-
Sparring against each other in the Arena.
-
Sharing meals in the Somniel.
-
Giving gifts to characters.
Indeed, the battlefield, for all its danger, is fertile soil where relationships may blossom. At least, in Fire Emblem Engage. Keeping two characters near each other in battle is the more surefire way to earn Support Points, and unlike the Arena, you can actually control these battlefield interactions.
How to Increase Support Levels in Fire Emblem Engage¶
After earning enough Support Points (likely by performing actions near other characters in battle, see above) you’ll be able to witness a Support Conversation between two characters. It’s during these conversations that relationships between characters are defined, and where a good bit of lore is hidden away.
You may not be able to eventually breed an army of second generation soldiers by increasing the Support Levels of first generation characters in Fire Emblem Engage, but you do still gain some worthwhile benefits from increasing Support Levels… even if you don’t care about story, lore or character development.
To witness these Support Conversations and increase Support Levels, just return to the Somniel, enter the menu and pick the options “Reference” and “Support” and you’ll get a list of all your characters. Any character with a yellow dialog box next to them has a Support Rank that can be increased. Just select the desired character and you’ll find a list of all the characters they have an unlocked Support Conversation with. You can skip these if you want - you’ll still get the benefits. You can rewatch Support Conversations by interacting with the bed in your room and picking the “Reminisce” option.
What Benefits Do You Get From Support Levels in Fire Emblem Engage?¶
In addition to the warm, fuzzy character development that’s unlocked by increasing Support Levels, you’ll be provided with some gameplay benefits in the form of stat boosts that both characters enjoy when fighting near each other. The bonuses each character gives to adjacent allies varies based on what Support Class each character belongs to, as follows:
Type | Rank | Bonuses | Characters |
---|---|---|---|

Balanced | B | Hit, Avoid, Critical, Dodge | Alear, Chloe, Citrine, Kagetsu, Lindon, Merrin |

Dodge | S | Hit, Dodge | Celine, Etie, Goldmary, Ivy, Lapis, Pandora, Veyle |
These bonuses can end up fairly substantial, so you’d be well advised to work on boosting Support Levels and maneuvering characters so they can take advantage of these bonuses in combat.
