The best Sigurd Emblem skills and pairings are here in this very page. With his boost to MOV, Sigurd is one of the easier to use Emblems and very effective for most characters. He’s known as the Emblem of the Holy War and has type bonuses with Cavalry classes. This page will tell you everything you need to know about him.
Sigurd Emblem Basic Stats And Background¶
Engage Attack | Engage Skill | Usable Weapons |
---|---|---|
Override | Gallop, Foe Engage Attack Damage/2 | Ridersbane (Sigurd), Brave Lance (Sigurd), Tyrfing |
Sigurd is from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War that released back on the Super Nintendo. There are rumors surrounding the possibility of a remake of this title so Sigurd may be featured again soon.
His Override Engage Attack will let him mow through a series of enemies in a line, making it useful to break through enemy defenses. Gallop, though, is the main reason why you want to Engage with Sigurd, as it will grant the character a massive MOV+5.
Sigurd’s Playstyle¶
As mentioned above, Sigurd is all about that massive increase to your MOV which can be a literal gamechanger for many characters and classes. Using him, you can move tankier units like Armor Classes to get right up to enemy lines and block their advance on your weaker units. Alternatively, give it to a Flier Class and you can soar throughout the battlefield, picking off tricky Mages and Archers so that the rest of your squad can move up closer.
Still, you’ll want to keep in mind the unit you pair him with once you’re not Engaged as the last thing you want to do is move a someone like Clanne or Framme to areas where they may be vulnerable after you’re not engaged and don’t have the MOV to escape.
Best Sigurd Emblem Skills to Inherit¶
As with most Emblems, their stat skills are always useful, but they’re expensive and your slots are limited. Canter (and Canter+ at 13) are the clear winners here, this will allow a unit to move two spaces (three with Canter+) after acting, vital for characters like Chloé who can dart in for a kill, then get out of harm’s way before an enemy has the time to react.
Beyond that, there’s not much else you should waste your SP on for Sigurd, as SP is limited without grinding and there are better skills for your slots elsewhere. Momentum is an interesting one, it will allow you to increase your ATK for each space moved (with a cap of 10 until you unlock the + version of Momentum). This is excellent for Classes that will move lots of spaces at once, such as Cavalry or Flier unit.
Best Sigurd Emblem Pairings¶
This is probably the easiest question to answer when it comes to pairings as Sigurd’s Emblem is useful on pretty much most characters, the MOV+5 is that powerful. Still, there are a few characters that really benefit from it.
The first, is Chloé, who, if you’re fortunate enough with her stat growth, becomes a complete monster when paired with Sigurd. She already has high maneuverability as a Lance Flier but paired with Sigurd, she can get across the battlefields with ease, use a powerful attack (especially using Javelin’s for extra range) before retreating to a Flier only space.
Outside of Chloé, anyone you have as one of the Armor Classes, such as Louis who you recruit early on. By nature, these classes have low MOV to make up for their tanky defense but slap Sigurd on there and they’ll get up close to the enemy frontlines a lot easier and help you control the flow of battle.
Our final suggestion for a pair for Sigurd is Yunaka. Her personal skill, Trained to Kill, increases her Crit when she’s on terrain that boosts AVO. Using Sigurd will allow her to make sure she’s on these spaces as much as possible and continue to make her a killing machine.
