The best Marth Emblem skills and pairings are here in this very page. With his boost to Avo, Marth is an effective Emblem for any characters that will want to be up close to your enemies. He’s known as the Emblem of Beginnings and has type bonuses with most melee classes. This page will tell you everything you need to know about him.
Marth Emblem Basic Stats And Background¶
Engage Attack | Engage Skill | Usable Weapons |
---|---|---|
Lodestar Rush | Divine Speed, Foe Engage Attack Damage/2 | Rapier, Mercurius, Falchion |
Marth is from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon that released back on the Nintendo DS, and was a remake of the very first Fire Emblem. Marth has been featured in many titles in the series, and was involved in another crossover, Tokyo Mirage Sessions that released on both the Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
His Lodestar Rush Engage Attack is a seven-hit attack at 30% damage each against a single foe, often enough to fell most foes. Divine Speed, his Engage Skill, will also allow the character to perform a second attack in combat at 50% damage. If you have high Spd, this often results in three attacks in a single combat round.
Marth’s Playstyle¶
As mentioned above, Marth is all about increasing your Avo stat, a vital stat for any would-be avoid tank, of which there are some great candidates. Avoid tanking is one of the best ways to mitigate damage in Fire Emblem Engage and as such, makes Marth an excellent choice for many of the melee units that have high Spd and Ddg.
Divine Speed is nothing to scoff at too, as if you’re pairing Marth with someone that has high Spd, you’ll be attacking twice every round before Divine Speed kicks in. Marth himself comes with many skills that boosts Avo and Spd further, making him an excellent choice for whoever you want to avoid tank.
Best Marth Emblem Skills to Inherit¶
As with most Emblems, their stat skills are always useful, but they’re expensive and your slots are limited. The Avoid+ Skills, however, are worthy exceptions as it’s an incredibly important stat and Bond Level 19, can offer up to an extra 30 Avo. Perceptive (and Perceptive+ at Lv 16) are also excellent skills geared at making the most out of avoid tanking, as if you initiate combat, you’ll gain another 15 Avo at the default levels.
Beyond that, there’s not much else you should waste your SP on for Marth, as SP is limited without grinding and there are better skills for your slots elsewhere. The other skills worth mentioning are the Unyielding Skills as they’re low cost (100, 200, and 300 respectively) and offer a way for you to recover HP at the start of a player phase if you’re below certain thresholds (20/30/40% of max HP).
Best Marth Emblem Pairings¶
Being the first Emblem that you obtain, you’ll most likely have Marth on Alear until you at least reach Bond Level 10, and it’s a good choice as it makes an excellent Unit even stronger. Once more Emblems and characters join though, there are better options for Marth.
The first is Yunaka, who makes one of the best avoid tanks in the game as she has excellent Spd and Dex growth and in her default Thief Class, can make the most use out of it. If you keep her on terrain that boosts her Avoid, she’ll gain a Crit boost thanks to her Trained to Kill Personal Skill, further making better use of all that bonus Avo that Marth gives you.
The other choice for Marth is Kagetsu, who has excellent Spd and Dex growth and as such, is a good candidate for avoid tanking and making use of Marth as an Emblem. Swordmaster’s are a fantastic Class that makes good use of the strengths that it provides. Diamant is also a good shout for a potential pairing, Unyielding and its upgrades are useful for him as a tank to ensure he keeps his HP up.
