Every time a character levels up in Fire Emblem Engage, their stats have a chance to increase by one point. These stat growth rates are mostly inherent to the character in question, but their current class and in some rare cases, equipped skills, also influences their growth rates. In general, the higher a character’s stat growth rates, the higher their stats will become given enough level ups, although RNG can be fickle. This page will cover growth rates by character and class, and cover alternate means by which you can boost your stat growth rates.
All Stat Growth Rates by Character in Fire Emblem Engage¶
All characters have their own strengths and weaknesses and these are reflected in their stat growth rates. Note that while a character’s class influences these growth rates, the amount of stat growth a class gives is usually fairly minor compared to what a character’s innate growths are - generally between 0% and 30% for classes, and 0% and 50% for characters. Boucheron, with his 0% MAG growth, will struggle to make headway as a caster, while Anna, with her 50% MAG growth, will gain MAG readily. On the other hand, stat caps are mostly determined by a character’s class, with the character themselves playing a fairly minor role in these caps. All in all, a character’s class determines how good they can get in any area, while a character’s growth rates determines how fast they’ll gain various stats. If you’re willing to spend the time grinding, any character can fit into any role… personal skills aside.

All Stat Growth Rates by Class in Fire Emblem Engage¶
Compared to a character’s natural growth rates, their class’s influence on stat growths tends to be minor. Most classes, when they give any bonus at all, tend to give between 10% to 20% growth in a stat, with a few outliers giving more or less. A Berserker will grant an addition 30% STR growth rate, which is honestly enough to turn the most noodle-armed character into a powerhouse in enough levels, but many other melee classes, like Paladin, Hero and Great Knight yield a more modest 15% STR growth. Count on your class to augment, not determine, your stat growths.
Also note that there’s no natural correlation between a character’s starting class and their stat growths. Anna, despite starting out as an Axe Fighter, actually has poor STR growth and the highest MAG growth in the game. Likewise Clanne - Clanne starts out as a Mage, but his STR growth is significantly higher than his MAG growth.
All Base Class Growth Rates in Fire Emblem Engage¶
Below you’ll find a table of growth rates for all the base classes in the game. Many characters will start out as a base class, but they largely become redundant once advanced classes become available. Also includes special classes, like Dancer (which is unique to Seadall) and Thief.

All Advanced Class Growth Rates in Fire Emblem Engage¶
Below you’ll find a table of growth rates for all the base classes in the game. Given that advanced classes tend to have higher growth rates than basic classes and there’s absolutely no upside to staying as a basic class, you’ll want to promote to an advanced class as soon as possible. Unlike in other Fire Emblem games, there’s no reason to stay a base class, much less return to one after you’ve promoted out.

How to Boost Growth Rates¶
Your character’s base growth rates are set in stone, and while you can switch classes to nudge your growth rates in various directions, there’s usually at least a few neglected stats in each class. Higher growth rates mean higher stats, over time, so finding a way to boost your stat growths means stronger characters… eventually.
If you’re Jean, you’re in luck - his personal skill, “Expertise” doubles whatever his class growth rates are, which mostly just compensates for his low overall character growth rates. Yes, he’s the standard “villager” character in this Fire Emblem game, meaning he’s got garbage growths offset (somewhat) by a gimmick that increases stat growths.
If you’re not Jean, you’ll have to look elsewhere for stat boosts. Fortunately, you can find such stat boosts in the form of the inheritable skill, Starsphere. Unfortunately, it’s DLC content, which you can only access by purchasing the Expansion Pass. Once purchased, you’ll have to complete Tiki’s Divine Paralogue - Dragon Temple (check the link for a walkthrough), after which you’ll acquire Emblem Tiki. From her you can learn the Starsphere ability, just reach Bond Level 5 with her (you can just spend 400 Bond Fragments Emblem training in the Arena) and you’ll be able to purchase Starsphere for 1,500 SP. When equipped, Starsphere will boost all your stat growth rates by +15%, which in 20 levels will account for (on average):
- +3 HP
- +3 Ph Atk
- +3 Mag Atk
- +7.5 Hit
- +7.5 Avo
- +1.5 Crit
- +3 Ddg
- -3 reduced damage from enemy Ph Atk and Mag Atk
- A greater chance of follow up attacks due to higher Spd
