Banishment

Banishment is Yuffie’s hardest hitting ability once you raise it to level 3, dealing massive damage of any elemental (or non-elemental) to a target. When using any other Weapon Ability, you’ll build up a charge of Banishment which you can notice in the command menu. Keep using them and it’ll eventually build up from Banishment I to Banishment III, taking on the elemental property of your Ninjutsu currently set. When unleashed on an enemy’s weakness, this will deal devastating damage, especially if they’re staggered first.

Evaluation

The Steel Reaper is a bit of a strange one when it comes to Yuffie’s weapons. It’s main focus is raw Attack Power, having the highest of any of her weapons but it comes at the expense of a lot of useful abilities the other weapons have. Outside of all the Attack Power boosts, Stagger Siphon is extremely useful, allowing you to recover HP when using abilities against a staggered opponent. The final Sub-Core however is a massive letdown, with it’s focus on pure stats rather than abilities useful for Hard Mode for which you should never use this weapon.

When spending your SP on the Steel Shuriken, focus on obtaining AP Up first before unlocking any new Materia slots. Be sure to pick up every Attack Power boost as it becomes available and snap up Stagger Siphon as soon as possible. If you’re good at nailing Precision Defense, the Precision Defense: Regen ability is useful for free healing opportunities.
