This page contains all of the details on how to upgrade your PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake to Intergrade and how to transfer your save across both games.
How to Upgrade your PS4 copy¶
There’s been much confusion as to who is eligible for the free upgrade of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and what it contains. This will differ based on if your PS4 version is on disc or digital:
Physical Disc Copy¶
Should you have Final Fantasy VII Remake on disc for the PS4, you must insert it into the PS5 (obviously you’ll need to have the disc version of the PS5) and then head to the PlayStation Store and search for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. You should see a listing for Final Fantasy VII Remake upgrade for PS4 owners, download this while your disc is in your drive and you’ll gain your free upgrade for Intergrade.
It should be noted that you’ll need to keep the PS4 disc in the drive when you play Intergrade or it won’t load up, asking you to insert the disc. Also note that although you gain access to Intergrade, you must purchase the INTERmission DLC separately. Likewise, you won’t be able to download INTERmission until you have Intergrade installed on your current system.
Digital Edition Copy¶
Should you have purchased the Digital Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake the PS4, simply head to the PlayStation Store and search for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. You should see a listing for Final Fantasy VII Remake upgrade for PS4 owners, download this and you’ll gain your free upgrade for Intergrade.
Unlike the Disc copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake, there’s no further requirements to access Intergrade once you’ve downloaded the PS5 version. Also note that although you gain access to Intergrade, you must purchase the INTERmission DLC separately. Likewise, you won’t be able to download INTERmission until you have Intergrade installed on your current system.
How to Transfer your PS4 Save to Intergrade¶
You can choose to carry your save over from the PS4 verson of Final Fantasy VII Remake to Intergrade, keeping everything from your current playthrough and even carrying on where you left off with the new features in Intergrade. This isn’t as simple as most games however, you cannot simply copy your save data from the cloud and load it up on the PS5 version.
Instead, you must first convert the save file within the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake. This is done by reinstalling the game (you only need to install enough to be able to start the game) and then head to the title screen with the latest patch installed. Here you’ll find the Upload Save Data option which, when selected, will ask you to select a Save Slot to upload.
Once this is completed successfully, you can delete your PS4 version of the game and load up Intergrade on the PS5. On the title screen here, you’ll spot the Download Save Data option which, when selected, will ask you what uploaded save slot you wish to download. Select the one you uploaded and it will be converted to a PS5 Intergrade save file, allowing you to continue where you left off.
