Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Time for a Tournament!

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Objective Reward
Held a tournament 341,289 EXP, D Medal (x1), Ultra Brain Bread (x1)

You need to be playing as Goku to begin this substory, which will be located inside of Capsule Corporation, plus you need to have finished The Parent Trap to unlock it. Goku wants to set up a tournament so everyone can enjoy some fighting, but needs Bulma’s help in order to get things running. Of course, she wants Goku to help out with some of the prep work, starting with the arena. She suggests asking to see if they can rent the World Tournament Arena, so travel to the Far Southern Islands Area and ask the announcer there, only to find out you can’t rent it. You return to Bulma to tell her the bad news, but she has another plan. When you regain control, travel to the Continent Center Area and speak to the announcer to get things started.

(1 of 3) Solar Flare works wonders against Gotenks, to avoid the Ghost Kamikaze Attack

The tournament will be a tag-team one, with each entry being split into two-person teams. You will be controlling Goku, of course, and your partner is Krillin. There will be two fights in total for you, with your first opponents being Goten and Trunks, who fuse into Gotenks right from the get go. While you had limited playing time, Gotenks only really uses Galactic Donuts and Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack. The former is a projectile that binds your movement/actions, should it hit you. The latter has Gotenks creating some ghosts that fly around randomly and attack you when you least expect it. Thankfully, you have Krillin with you, so use Solar Flare to stun Gotenks before he can pull off the latter move.

Defeat Gotenks and your second fight will be against Vegeta and Yamcha. Concentrate on Yamcha first, as he’s the weaker of the two. He only has Spirit Ball and Kamehameha in his arsenal, the former of which is the more problematic, as it tracks a bit more. Vegeta is definitely the more challenging of the two, since he’s a higher level and has more moves in his repertoire. Galick Gun is your basic beam attack, but Vegeta will sometimes use it out of nowhere, so you might not be prepared for it. There is also Consecutive Energy Blast, a move that can deal some damage to you if you’re concentrating on Yamcha. Beat both of them to win the tournament and finish the substory.
